About the Role

Parallel Fragrances is seeking a hands-on Subject-Matter Expert (SME) in inventory management for a focused one-month engagement. This is a specialist role for someone who deeply understands how inventory flows through a growing e-commerce business that fulfills orders from more than one warehouse.

Over the course of the month, you will assess our current inventory and fulfillment practices, identify gaps and risks, and put in place clear, repeatable processes that keep our physical stock, our systems, and our shipping operation in sync across every location. You will also serve as our go-to expert on shipping label printing across multiple platforms, including diagnosing why label printing problems occur and how to prevent them.

Scope of Engagement

This engagement is expected to deliver the following over the one-month term:

• A review of current inventory management and multi-warehouse fulfillment practices, with documented findings.
• Recommended and documented standard operating procedures (SOPs) for inventory accuracy, replenishment, and stock reconciliation.
• A workable approach for allocating and routing orders across multiple warehouses.
• Documentation and troubleshooting guidance for shipping label printing across the platforms we use.
• Knowledge transfer to internal staff so processes remain sustainable after the contract ends.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management

• Establish and document best practices for maintaining accurate inventory counts across all locations.
• Design processes to reconcile physical inventory against system inventory (e.g., Shopify) and resolve discrepancies.
• Advise on stock levels, safety stock, reorder points, and replenishment to prevent stockouts and overstock.
• Recommend inventory tracking methods, cycle-count routines, and audit practices suited to a small operation.

Multi-Warehouse Fulfillment

• Advise on inventory allocation, transfers, and visibility across multiple warehouse locations (3PL).
• Recommend order routing logic so orders are fulfilled from the optimal location based on stock and shipping speed.
• Identify risks specific to distributed inventory (e.g., split shipments, mismatched counts) and how to mitigate them.

Multi-Platform Shipping Label Printing

• Demonstrate and document how to print shipping labels correctly from multiple platforms and carrier tools.
• Explain the common causes of label printing problems, including printer and driver issues, label size and format mismatches, thermal vs. laser printing, browser or PDF rendering issues, connectivity, and platform-specific settings.
• Provide a practical troubleshooting checklist so staff can diagnose and resolve printing failures quickly.

Qualifications & Requirements

• Demonstrated subject-matter expertise in inventory management for e-commerce businesses.
• Hands-on experience with multi-warehouse or multi-location fulfillment operations.
• Proficiency printing shipping labels from multiple platforms, and a clear understanding of why printing problems arise and how to fix them.
• Familiarity with e-commerce and inventory platforms such as Shopify, and common shipping/label tools.
• Strong ability to document processes clearly and train non-expert staff.
• Self-directed and able to deliver meaningful results within a short, one-month timeframe.

Preferred (Not Required)

• Experience in beauty, fragrance, or other SKU-heavy product categories.
• Experience selecting or configuring inventory management or fulfillment software.
• Background improving fulfillment accuracy and shipping efficiency at a growing brand.

Compensation & Term

This is a one-month contract position at a rate of $1,500. The engagement may be extended by mutual agreement. Work location (on-site) will be confirmed with the selected candidate.
