The Substation Practice is seeking a Renewable Energy Client Team Leader (CTL) in Denver, CO to lead and grow client relationships across the utility-scale renewable energy market, including wind, solar, and battery energy storage systems (BESS) for A&E design engineering services. This senior role blends client leadership, business development, and project oversight, with accountability for client satisfaction, revenue growth, and profitability.The Renewable Energy CTL serves as a trusted advisor to renewable developers and contractors, while leading multidisciplinary teams delivering complex power delivery and renewable infrastructure projects. This position may also include serving the data center market depending on the candidate’s qualifications and experience.Remote Work Option: While this position may be performed remotely, new hires must attend their first day and onboarding activities in person at a DEA office. DEA will arrange and cover associated travel costs.What You’ll DoKey Responsibilities:Client & Market LeadershipOwn and manage key renewable energy client relationships and overall client experienceIdentify, pursue, and secure new renewable energy opportunities across wind, solar, and BESS markets and potentially the data center marketForecast client sales, staffing needs, and revenue; ensure profitability and favorable contract termsSupport go/no-go decisions, pursuit strategies, and teaming partner selectionRepresent DEA at industry events, conferences, and client meetingsBusiness DevelopmentLead proposal development, fee strategies, and contract negotiationsLeverage market knowledge to expand services with existing clients and enter new renewable marketsCollaborate across business units to deliver integrated solutionsProject & Team LeadershipServe as Principal-in-Charge, Client Team Leader, or Project Manager, as appropriateProvide leadership and mentorship to project managers and technical teamsEnsure quality, schedule, budget, and risk management standards are met or exceededSupport project recovery and collections, as neededWhat You BringRequired Qualifications:Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Electrical Engineering (or related field), or equivalent experienceMinimum 10–15 years of experience in renewable energy and/or power delivery consultingDemonstrated success managing renewable energy clients and projectsStrong leadership, communication, and business acumenPreferred Qualifications:Professional Engineer (PE) licensePMP certificationExperience with Alternative Project Delivery (APD) or EPC/EPCM projectsExperience supporting utility-scale renewable developers or contractorsExperience delivering power delivery infrastructure projects serving the data center marketWhat We OfferWe foster an environment where talented professionals have the freedom and support to do their most meaningful work.
