Employment Type Full time Shift 12 Hour Night Shift Position Title Specialty Nurse – Med Surg - Advanced RN (IA) Department Nursing Clinical Support Staff Schedule 1900-0730, 3 -12 hr shifts per week Every other weekend Holiday rotation General Duties Assesses plans Implements and evaluates patients’ care and condition based upon observation, examination and other pertinent information Completes assessment in specified time frame Identifies and consistently recognizes changes in normal and abnormal parameters in the patient's physiological, psychological, cultural, developmental, and spiritual needs Implements nursing interventions to achieve progress toward expected patient outcomes or to stabilize a patient's condition and/or prevent complications Evaluates and documents patients' response to nursing care and modifies or revises treatment plans, and/or contacts physicians as circumstances require Participates in interdisciplinary patient care planning and evaluates patient progression in preparation for safe discharge Identifies and completes assessments of patient (family) educational needs Provides education consistent with patient's level of understanding using existing resources based on diagnosis, treatment plan or prescribed medical regimen Clinical Duties – 75% Assesses, plans, implements and evaluates patients’ care and condition based upon observation, examination and other pertinent information. Professional Duties – 15% Demonstrate knowledge and skills necessary to provide a high level of nursing care in units to which assigned. Demonstrate the ability to use critical thinking skills in the implementation of all phases of the nursing process. Facilitate clinical skill and knowledge acquisition for nursing students assigned to the RN/the RN’s patient care area for clinical academic program course requirements and experience. Administrative Duties – 10% Schedules, assigns, and coordinates work. Checks the quality of work and provides guidance, instruction, training, and direction to others. General Requirements Education: Bachelor's Degree Field OF Study: Nursing Special Training: ACLS; Basic Life Support; Minimum of 2 years experience in nursing Training Preferred: ANCC Certified in Medical-Surgical Nursing or related field Licensures/Registration: Registered Nurse in Iowa and/or Illinois Experience: More than 2 years experience required Colleagues of MercyOne Health System enjoy competitive compensation with a full benefits package and opportunity for growth throughout the system!
