Job Title: Mechatronics Technician Job Description
The engineering team seeks a highly motivated Mechatronics Technician to support accelerated product durability testing in a hands-on, fast-paced environment. In this role, you will assemble and disassemble vehicle components, build and wire test fixtures, and execute a variety of mechanical and electrical tests. You will collaborate closely with engineers and other technicians to identify issues, implement solutions quickly, and continuously develop new skills. This position is ideal for someone who is passionate about mechatronics, eager to be hands-on, and driven to learn in a dynamic setting.
Responsibilities- Set up and execute durability tests, including configuring equipment, performing inspections, conducting maintenance, and completing retrofits as needed.
- Assemble and disassemble vehicle components to support test preparation, execution, and post-test analysis.
- Document and report issues identified during tests or inspections in a clear and timely manner.
- Collaborate with engineers to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical and electrical issues discovered during testing.
- Support engineers with instrumentation and data acquisition activities, including sensor installation and verification.
- Assist and learn from other technicians and engineers to continuously improve technical capabilities and testing methods.
- Assemble and wire test fixtures, ensuring reliable and safe operation of test setups.
- Read and interpret wiring diagrams to correctly assemble and troubleshoot electrical systems and test fixtures.
- Work with fabrication equipment such as drills and band saws to build, modify, and repair test fixtures and components.
- Use measurement tools, including multimeters, force gauges, torque wrenches, and calipers, to verify component and system performance.
- Communicate test status, findings, and issues effectively through clear written documentation and verbal updates.
- Apply analytical problem-solving skills to diagnose issues with mechanical systems and low voltage components.
- Maintain organized test setups, tools, and documentation to support efficient and repeatable testing processes.
- Hands-on mechatronics experience, including wiring and building functional mechanical and electrical systems.
- Ability to assemble and wire test fixtures and vehicle components in a safe and accurate manner.
- Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams to support assembly and troubleshooting.
- Experience using measurement tools such as digital multimeters, force gauges, torque wrenches, and calipers.
- Ability to use basic measurement tools such as calipers, digital multimeters, and data acquisition systems (DAQs).
- Experience working with low voltage components in a test or engineering environment.
- Ability to troubleshoot mechanical systems and identify root causes of issues discovered during testing.
- Previous experience with CAN communication and interpreting or using CAN-based data.
- Basic experience with MS Office tools, including Outlook, Excel, and Word, for documentation and communication.
- Strong analytical problem-solving skills to evaluate test results and resolve technical issues.
- Strong organization skills to manage multiple tests, tools, and documentation effectively.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to document issues and collaborate with engineers and technicians.
- A highly motivated, proactive attitude with a strong desire to be hands-on and learn new skills.
- Professional or internship experience in a mechatronics, testing, or engineering environment, preferred over purely academic project experience.
- Experience supporting instrumentation and data acquisition activities in a test setting.
- Familiarity with fabrication equipment such as drills and band saws for building and modifying test fixtures.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with engineers and other technicians in a team-oriented environment.
- Strong attention to detail when assembling, wiring, and inspecting mechanical and electrical systems.
- Comfort working in a dynamic environment with evolving test requirements and new discoveries.
The work environment is dynamic and development-focused, with ongoing discovery and rapid implementation of new testing methods and solutions. You will work closely with engineers and technicians in a collaborative setting, frequently engaging in hands-on tasks such as assembling and disassembling vehicle components, wiring test fixtures, and operating fabrication equipment like drills and band saws. Daily work involves the use of measurement tools including calipers, digital multimeters, force gauges, torque wrenches, and data acquisition systems, as well as basic productivity tools such as Outlook, Excel, and Word. The role emphasizes practical, hands-on work with mechanical systems, low voltage components, and CAN communication in a fast-paced, continuously evolving engineering environment.
Job Type & LocationThis is a Contract to Hire position based out of Fremont, CA.
Pay and BenefitsThe pay range for this position is $35.00 - $42.00/hr.
Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
