Job Title: Waterjet Operator Job Description

The Waterjet Operator sets up and operates waterjet cutting equipment to produce precision parts according to specified tolerances and dimensions. This role involves loading materials, interpreting blueprints, and performing standard calculations to ensure accurate and efficient production.

Responsibilities

• Load raw material onto the waterjet machine safely and accurately.
• Set up the waterjet machine according to job specifications, including programs, tooling, and fixtures.
• Interpret and read blueprints to determine required dimensions, tolerances, and cutting paths.
• Make standard computations related to dimensions of workpieces and tooling requirements.
• Monitor machine operation to ensure parts meet quality and dimensional specifications.
• Adjust machine settings as needed to maintain accuracy and efficiency.
• Perform basic routine checks on equipment to support safe and reliable operation.
• Handle and move materials and finished parts, including lifting up to 50 pounds as required.
• Maintain a clean and organized work area in accordance with shop standards.

Essential Skills

• At least 1 year of experience operating a waterjet machine.
• Proficiency in waterjet operation, including loading material and setting up the machine.
• Ability to read and interpret blueprints accurately.
• Capability to perform standard calculations related to dimensions and tooling.
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds safely.
• Attention to detail and commitment to producing parts within specified tolerances.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Comfort working in a small, collaborative production team environment.
• Strong work ethic and reliability for first-shift hours, Monday through Friday.
• Basic mechanical aptitude and willingness to learn and follow established procedures.

Work Environment

You work in a climate-controlled facility with a team of approximately 15 employees. The position is first shift only, Monday through Friday, from 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., with minimal weekend work. The environment supports precision manufacturing with organized work areas and equipment designed for safe and efficient operation.

Job Type & Location

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Wichita, KS.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $22.00 - $25.00/hr.

Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
