Description
Leads, Supervises and coordinates the daily activities related to mechanical maintenance, repair, and operational planning for biosolids recycling facilities and equipment, including heavy earth-moving machinery, agricultural equipment, Metro vehicles, and related assets within the Resource, Recovery, and Reuse (RR&R) Department. Supervises skilled and semi-skilled mechanical personnel, coordinates fleet maintenance activities, and ensures compliance with state and federal DOT regulatory requirements. Reports to the Senior RR&R Fleet Maintenance Manager. Examples of Duties

Knowledge of:
Education
Associate degree in Fleet Maintenance Management, Business Management, Logistics, or related field. Possession of a valid Class A CDL with HAZMAT endorsement is required. A combination of education and relevant experience may be considered in lieu of a degree.

Leads, Supervises and coordinates the daily activities related to mechanical maintenance, repair, and operational planning for biosolids recycling facilities and equipment, including heavy earth-moving machinery, agricultural equipment, Metro vehicles, and related assets within the Resource, Recovery, and Reuse (RR&R) Department. Supervises skilled and semi-skilled mechanical personnel, coordinates fleet maintenance activities, and ensures compliance with state and federal DOT regulatory requirements. Reports to the Senior RR&R Fleet Maintenance Manager. Examples of Duties
- Oversee employee performance and professional growth by assigning skill-building tasks, monitoring certification progress, providing coaching and feedback, and identifying development needs. Develop training plans and promote career advancement opportunities to enhance technician capabilities and strengthen the department's long-term success.
- Develops and refines preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance strategies using Metro's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS). Monitors and evaluates program effectiveness through data analysis and key performance indicators (KPIs).
- Develops the planning, coordination, and scheduling of fleet maintenance activities and capital projects within the RR&R Department, ensuring alignment with operational priorities and minimal disruption to service delivery. Generates maintenance schedules, material requirements, technical schematics, and work instructions to ensure accurate and efficient task execution. Provides job completion reports and scheduling updates to the Senior Fleet Maintenance Manager.
- Analyzes maintenance trends, equipment performance data, and cost drivers to identify opportunities for improved asset reliability and lifecycle management.
- Performs cost-benefit analysis for equipment upgrades or replacements; provides recommendations for capital planning and budget development.
- Coordinates with internal departments, contractors, and vendors on equipment installation, removal, modification, warranty tracking, and recall management.
- Research and apply technical resources such as vehicle manufacturer specifications, repair procedures, and technical service bulletins to ensure repairs are accurate, efficient, and compliant with industry standards. Reviews and integrates technical documentation, shop drawings, and O&M manuals into maintenance planning tools and ensures accessibility for staff.
- Participate in employee selection, training, performance evaluation, coaching, and discipline.
- Prepares scopes of work for service contracts, evaluates proposals and bids, and manages contractor performance to ensure compliance with specifications.
- Assists in the administration of the Fleet Maintenance Division budget, monitors expenditure and reports on variances.
- Conducts regular inspections to ensure compliance with safety protocols, regulatory requirements, and maintenance standards.
- Leads and supports special projects and operational improvement initiatives to enhance fleet performance and service reliability.
- Responsible for maintaining and promoting a safe working environment. Ensure employees complete all required training on time, maintain compliance with organizational requirements, and follow all safety protocols.
- Oversee CDL drivers including comprehensive knowledge of DOT practices and regulations?
- Performs other duties as assigned.

Education
