Position: Manufacturing Planner

About the Job


As a Manufacturing Planner, you will develop and maintain detailed work instructions and manufacturing documentation to support production processes. You will analyze engineering designs, specifications, and manufacturing requirements to determine the most efficient and practical methods for building complex components and systems.


You will collaborate closely with engineering, production, and tooling teams to ensure alignment between design intent and manufacturing execution. Your work will directly support efficient, high-quality production outcomes.


Responsibilities
• Analyze engineering drawings, specifications, and reference documents to define manufacturing processes and sequences.
• Develop clear, detailed work instructions and supporting documentation for production operations.
• Plan manufacturing processes for components, assemblies, and systems, ensuring efficiency, quality, and compliance.
• Apply knowledge of manufacturing techniques, tooling, and shop practices to optimize production workflows.
• Collaborate with design and production engineering teams to ensure manufacturability and cost-effective solutions.
• Serve as a liaison between engineering, tooling, planning, and production teams to resolve discrepancies.
• Investigate production issues, recommend corrective actions, and update planning documentation as needed.
• Ensure alignment between engineering designs (EBOM) and manufacturing execution (MBOM/OBOM).


Minimum Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Manufacturing, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 5+ years of experience in manufacturing planning or engineering documentation development.
• Experience creating comprehensive work instructions for one or more of the following:
• Machine parts
• Composite details or assemblies
• Airframe structures
• Aircraft systems and check-outs
• Wiring and electrical systems
• Plumbing systems
• Aircraft maintenance, MRB, or coatings
• Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, specifications, and technical references.
• Experience with manufacturing methods, processes, tooling, and inspection techniques.
• Proficiency with tools such as SAP, MS Office, CAPP/SFM, and model-based systems (e.g., Solumina, Teamcenter, 3DX, or similar platforms).


Preferred Qualifications
• Experience in aerospace, automotive, or complex manufacturing environments.
• Understanding of:
• Engineering Bill of Materials (EBOM)
• Manufacturing Bill of Materials (MBOM)
• Order Bill of Materials (OBOM)
• Familiarity with CAD/CAE tools such as SolidWorks, CATIA, or Autodesk Inventor.
• Experience with PLM systems such as Siemens Teamcenter, PTC Windchill, or SAP PLM.
• Strong cross-functional collaboration skills across engineering, manufacturing, tooling, and production teams.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including instructional/technical writing.
