Tenure Track Assistant/Associate Professor of Nursing – 12 MonthNorfolk, Virginia, United StatesNorfolk State UniversityFull-Time (Salaried)Closing at: Oct 29 2026 - 23:55 EDTTitle: Tenure Track Assistant/Associate Professor of Nursing – 12 MonthHiring Range: The starting salary for this position is $85,000Pay Band: UGAgency: Norfolk State UniversityLocation: NorfolkAgency Website: Type: General Public - GJob DutiesThis nursing faculty position has a wide range of professional responsibilities including but not limited to:Develop, implement, and evaluate the philosophy and objectives of the nursing education programDesign, implement, teach, evaluate, and revise the curriculumDevelop and evaluate student admission, progression, retention, and graduation policies within the framework of NSUParticipate in academic advisement and counseling of students in accordance with requirements of the Financial Educational Rights and Privacy Act (20 USC § 1232g)Provide opportunities for and evidence of student and graduate evaluation of curriculum and teaching and program effectivenessDocument actions taken in faculty and committee meetings using a systematic plan of evaluation for total program reviewCreate and maintain effective collegial relationships with students, faculty, University and clinical agency staff and administrationModel professional evidence-based nursing that is sensitive to diverse and multicultural considerationsEstablish and maintain professional and ethical boundaries with students, co-workers, and others in all learning environmentsParticipate in University service and eventsAbide by University guidelines as prescribed in the Faculty Handbook for achieving promotion and/or tenureActively participate in annual scholarly activities including but not limited to research projects, grant proposal development and submission, manuscript writing, and professional presentationsMinimum QualificationsAn earned Master of Science in Nursing from a regionally accredited college or university.An earned terminal degree in nursing or related field (e.g. DNP, PhD, DrPH) Evidence of experience in nursing practice (minimum of five years).A record of scholarly achievement in teaching, research, service, and professional development.A current, unencumbered license as a registered nurse or multistate licensure privilege to practice nursing in Virginia, or ability to obtain one prior to start date.Additional ConsiderationsSubstantive specialization or certification in a specialty field or area of research focus.History of funding and/or publications in research.Experience with virtual simulation learning platforms.Knowledge of higher education and nursing accreditation processes.Special InstructionsYou will be provided a confirmation of receipt when your application and/or résumé is submitted successfully.
