MAINTENANCE MECHANIC II AKUTAN SHOREPLANT

Overview Trident Seafoods is North America’s largest vertically integrated seafood harvesting and processing company. The company catches and processes virtually every commercial species of salmon, whitefish, and crab harvested in the North Pacific and Alaska, and its global supply chain also includes cultured and wild species sourced from an international network of trusted suppliers. Summary The Maintenance Mechanic will operate, repair, and maintain a variety of machinery and mechanical equipment including engines, motors, pneumatic and conveyor systems, gears, hydraulics, and other equipment. Key Responsibilities Ensures operation of machinery by completing preventive maintenance according to schedule and direction. Locates sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation, listening for problems, and applying precision measuring and testing instruments. Lubricates and cleans parts, equipment, and machinery. Uses hand and power tools in a safe manner. Learns and follows all safety procedures and Trident Protocols. Performs regular inspections of key components and operations; notifies supervisors of issues or deviations from procedures. Follows diagrams, sketches, operations manuals, manufacturer’s instructions, and engineering specifications to troubleshoot malfunctions. Removes defective parts by dismantling devices; examines parts for defects and performs root cause analysis. Troubleshoots, repairs, and maintains rolling stock equipment. Additional Responsibilities Acquires knowledge of Trident’s Environmental and Safety Policies by completing required training programs and performing designated work activities in accordance with training and procedures/work instructions. Notifies designated personnel of any environmental or safety incidents or risks not previously documented, in accordance with Environmental Awareness and/or safety trainings. Work Environment The employee may be exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, moving mechanical parts, outside weather, and occasional high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; toxic or caustic chemicals; extreme cold; risk of electrical shock and vibration. Noise levels are usually loud. Physical Demands Regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms; frequently required to climb or balance. Occasionally required to sit, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear. Regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lb, frequently up to 25 lb, and occasionally up to 50 lb. Specific vision required includes distance, peripheral, and depth perception. Mental Activities Regularly required to understand and use English, work in teams, and apply decision‑making skills. Frequently required to speak English, use interpersonal and customer‑service skills, mentor, analyze problems, train, and supervise. Occasionally required to read and write English, perform basic math, and exercise independent judgment and discretion. Minimum Qualifications Minimum of two years’ experience as a mechanic or trade school degree with knowledge and proficiency in general equipment such as forklifts, pumps, hydraulics, motors, small engines, and marine equipment. Basic troubleshooting skills and recommendation from a supervisor. Preferred Qualifications High School Diploma or equivalent. Special Training/Skills Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos; ability to write simple correspondence; ability to present information to supervisors and other employees; basic arithmetic skills; ability to compute rates, ratios, and percentages.
