Surgical Technologist FT

USPI Memorial Hermann Surgical Hospital Kingwood is seeking a motivated Surgical Tech to join our team. We have 6 OR rooms and 2 Treatment rooms. We perform outpatient surgical procedures in ENT, General, GI, Gynecology, Ophthalmology, Orthopedic, Pain, Plastic, Podiatry, Spine, and Urology. Candidates must be available Monday–Friday with scheduling subject to change based on surgical schedule and flow of day, including early mornings and later evenings. Job Summary Under the direct supervision of the Director of Nursing, the Surgical Technologist scrubs for surgical procedures and demonstrates competence while functioning as a member of the surgical team. This role involves preparing and maintaining supplies, instruments, and equipment for procedures, supporting the Surgery Center’s philosophy, objectives, and goals, and participating in quality improvement activities. Job Duties Ensures sterility of all supplies and instruments during the set‑up of surgical procedures. Assists the circulating nurse and surgical team in maintaining a sterile environment. Assists the circulating nurse in gathering necessary supplies and equipment and performs sponge, needle, and instrument counts pre‑operatively and intra‑operatively with the circulating nurse. Gowns and gloves surgeons and assistants. Assists in keeping physician preference cards accurate and up‑to‑date. Retains specimens to be sent to pathology, confirming source and name of specimen with the surgeon. Transports surgical equipment to appropriate cleaning areas and assists in cleaning and reprocessing instrument sets. Interacts appropriately and effectively with all patients and others regardless of age or ethnic background. Uses Standard Universal Precautions, appropriate hand hygiene, personal protective equipment, and safe practices to ensure personal safety and a safe environment; assists with environmental hazard and infection control surveillance and participates in emergency preparedness drills. Follows all equipment and safety guidelines and responsibly uses and cares for equipment. Serves as a resource to other members of the health‑care team. Attends in‑services, conferences, and meetings as required. Communicates effectively and courteously with visitors, physicians, office staff, patients, and employees; maintains privacy and confidentiality per policy. Maintains certifications such as CPR, as offered by the center. Act in accordance with the center’s vision, mission, and business philosophy. Complies with policies and procedures and adheres to safety guidelines to ensure a safe work and patient care environment. Qualifications High school graduate or equivalent. Completion of an appropriate surgical technician program or at least two years of surgical technician experience. CST Certification required. Previous experience in an ambulatory surgical center strongly preferred. Strong knowledge of surgical procedures and surgical patient management. Understanding of aseptic techniques and their implementation. Ability to quickly adapt to changing patient conditions when needed. Excellent teamwork and communication skills with staff, patients, and physicians. USPI complies with federal, state, and/or local laws regarding mandatory vaccination of its workforce.
