Make a meaningful impact in a school environment by providing essential support as an ASL Paraprofessional. This full-time role (32 hours per week) involves working closely with an elementary-aged student, supporting both academic and social growth in a vibrant educational setting. Your fluency in American Sign Language will play a key role in ensuring the student has access to clear communication and a positive learning experience.
Key Qualifications:
- Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is essential
- Previous experience supporting students in an educational setting is highly valued
- Paraprofessional skills, including patience, flexibility, and strong communication abilities
- No EIPA certification required for this position
- Ability to collaborate with teachers, administrators, and other staff members
- Commitment to fostering an inclusive and encouraging environment
Your Responsibilities:
- Provide one-on-one ASL interpretation and support for an elementary student throughout the school day
- Assist with academic activities, classroom participation, and routine transitions
- Collaborate with instructional teams to adapt materials and activities, ensuring accessibility
- Encourage the student’s engagement, independence, and social interaction with peers
- Help track and document progress, contributing insights for educational planning
