Registered Nurse II - Neuro Tele (Telemetry)

Job Overview

The Registered Nurse II position in the Neuro Telemetry unit offers an exceptional opportunity for skilled professionals looking to provide high-quality care to patients with neurological conditions. This role requires a combination of clinical expertise, effective communication, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive nursing assessments and care for patients, including those with CVA, TBI, spinal surgeries, and other neurological disorders.
• Monitor and interpret telemetry data and perform EKG interpretation.
• Administer and titrate IV medications such as Amiodarone, Cardizem, and Insulin drips.
• Ensure safe and sterile techniques during procedures, including Foley catheter insertion and central line dressing changes.
• Perform nursing duties efficiently while maintaining a patient-to-nurse ratio of 1:4.
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams to develop and implement patient care plans.
• Participate in patient education and discharge planning to promote positive health outcomes.
• Maintain accurate electronic medical records using Cerner EMR.

Qualifications

• Current BLS and ACLS certifications are required.
• A minimum of 2 years of nursing experience in telemetry or neurosciences is preferred.
• Experience in handling Level 1 trauma patients is a must.
• Ability to pass a dysrhythmia exam prior to acceptance into the position.
• Demonstrated competency in maintaining sterile fields during medical procedures.
• Current and valid RN license is required.

Work Schedule

• This position requires 12-hour night shifts (7:00 PM to 7:00 AM).
• Employees will need to complete 4 weekend shifts every 4 weeks.
• Holiday shifts will be scheduled based on unit coverage needs.

Additional Information

• Physical demands include the ability to support patient movement and lift equipment as necessary.
• Travel teams must have their own vehicles for transportation to multiple locations within the region.
• All staff must adhere to dress code policies including natural hair color and grooming standards.
• Initial training includes a 2-day floor orientation.
• Unit aides are available to assist with routine patient care tasks during shifts.

Patient Population

The unit cares for a diverse population of patients, including those with tracheostomies, various neurological disorders, and psychiatric conditions. The average length of stay in this high-turnover unit is 4 to 5 days.
