Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN Specialty: FG MED Duration: 9 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 12 hours (6:45 am to 7:15 pm) Experience: Minimum of 2 years in Med Surg Tele nursing License: Licensed RN able to practice in the State Certifications: Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), NIH Stroke Scale, Basic Life Support (BLS) Must-Have: Experience in Med Surg Tele nursing Description: The Registered Nurse performs under the direct supervision of the Patient Care Coordinator. The nurse is delegated an assignment by the Patient Care Coordinator to achieve quality patient care. The Registered Nurse implements the nursing process in an organized and systematic manner. This includes assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation in collaboration with the Patient Care Coordinator, Physicians, and ancillary staff. Documentation in the Patient Care Record supports these actions. Direct observation by the Nurse Manager and patient evaluations of care is also part of the process. The Registered Nurse is responsible for patient care and ultimately accountable to the Nurse Manager. Other duties may be assigned by the Patient Care Coordinator or Patient Care Manager. The nurse demonstrates knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate for the age of the patients served. They assess and intervene appropriately when a patient's condition worsens and requires immediate attention. Knowledge of growth and development principles is essential for assessing data reflective of patient status. The Registered Nurse provides the necessary care based on each patient's age-specific needs. The nurse performs all technical skills required for the unit's population. This includes administering medications, starting intravenous access, maintaining intravenous lines and Foley catheters, and venipuncture. The nurse administers blood products, applies and monitors restraints, performs sterile dressings, and carries out both complex and routine treatments as ordered by a physician. They demonstrate technical aptitude for working with and troubleshooting various equipment. Equipment includes traction devices, wound vacuum systems, sequential compression devices, continuous passive motion machines, telemetry monitoring devices, and blood glucose monitoring devices. The nurse assists in safely positioning patients using various devices. They demonstrate thorough, concise, and timely documentation, bedside shift reports, and verbal communication of pertinent patient information. Maintaining clinical skills and ongoing competencies is crucial in this role. The nurse embraces and practices a caring philosophy in all interactions with patients, visitors, co-workers, and others. A systematic and comprehensive plan of care is implemented to provide individualized care and prompt intervention during clinical changes. The nurse communicates effectively with others in an appropriate and timely manner. They adhere to and promote established values of the organization, including customer service and safety standards. The nurse promotes a culture of caring through compassionate care, teamwork, and courtesy. Financial responsibility is demonstrated by using supplies efficiently and ensuring timely patient discharges. Keeping incremental overtime to a minimum is also a priority. The schedule requires working every other weekend.
