Medical Records Coordinator

Provides administrative and health information support by organizing, reviewing, filing, and maintaining medical records and related documentation. This position also involves document scanning into an Electronic Health Record (EHR), statistical reporting, and coordination with other departments. Strong administrative skills and medical office experience are required. EHR experience is a plus, but training will be provided.

Job Duties & Responsibilities

• Review and organize medical reports and medical records for completeness and accuracy.
• Prepare charts, health information forms, and requests for reports or certificates.
• Compile and maintain statistical reports, including census, admissions, discharges, and length of stay.
• File, log, and retrieve medical records and related information.
• Scan documents into the Electronic Health Record (EHR).
• Provide health information in accordance with established procedures and confidentiality requirements.
• Coordinate with departments regarding medical record procedures.
• Proofread reports and identify missing or incorrect information.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements & Qualifications

• Strong administrative skills with medical office experience.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Excel.
• EHR experience is a plus; training will be provided.
• Knowledge of medical terminology and medical recordkeeping.
• Understanding of patient confidentiality requirements.
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
• Ability to accurately gather, organize, and maintain information.
• Minimum qualifications include coursework or experience in records management, medical terminology, and typing, or equivalent qualifications.

Working Conditions

• Requires frequent walking between buildings throughout the workday.
