Adjunct Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Instructor

Position Summary Lawson State Community College is accepting applications for part‑time/adjunct faculty for all subjects. This role is part of an applicant pool; individuals will be hired as needed. Submitted applications will remain on file for 36 months. Terms of Employment Employed on an "As Needed" basis; local salary schedule in accordance to documented academic credentials and/or educational experiences, not to exceed nine credit hours per semester. All exceptions must be approved by the Vice President for Instruction. Salary: Local Salary Schedule (based on credentials and area of assignment) $33 per hour. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Under general supervision, prepare and deliver instruction for credited academic and technical courses at Lawson State at the freshmen and sophomore coursework levels. Adhere to all requirements for the learning management system (Blackboard): posting course syllabi, announcements, calendars, presentations, assignments with due dates, and test dates. Teach from current, job‑relevant course syllabi and training plan, supplement lectures and demonstrations with multimedia materials. Demonstrate safe use of all training equipment; include safety, health, and fire prevention as part of instruction. Maintain a conducive learning environment; supervise students and maintain discipline in class, lab, and shop. Develop laboratory projects that link theory to practical application through assignments. Distribute current syllabus at the beginning of each term including objectives, outline, methods of evaluation, schedule, lab/shop rules, regulations, and required materials. Administer written and performance examinations, record student progress through charts or Blackboard, and determine progress. Teach good work habits; communicate student progress to students and appropriate personnel. Supervise students in cooperative educational settings (when applicable) and respond to requests within 24–48 hours. Follow all regulations regarding online instruction (when applicable). Facilitate instructional methodologies for programs requiring industry chemicals/products. Maintain permanent student roll and accurate attendance; submit attendance reports on time. Follow grading system, submit grades each term by the due date, and submit form changes to registrar. Assist students in submitting required documents for graduation and enforce college policies. Participate in departmental orientation, communicate announcements, and adhere to FERPA, ADA accommodations. Qualifications Health Sciences: DMS – Bachelor's degree and RCS (Registered Cardiac Sonographer) or RDCS (Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer). Other subject areas may require equivalent credentials as per state and institution standards.
