Experienced Veterinary Assistant Commonwealth Animal Hospital 2285 Commonwealth Ave, Auburndale (Newton), MA Pay: $28–$35/hour Join a Team That Values Your Skills Commonwealth Animal Hospital is seeking an Experienced Veterinary Assistant to join our collaborative, progressive, and supportive team. What You'll Do As a Veterinary Assistant you'll play a vital role in patient care and work alongside experienced veterinarians to provide exceptional medical treatment. Responsibilities Include Assist with anesthesia, including calculations and patient monitoring Intubate patients and support all anesthesia-related procedures Place and monitor IV catheters Prepare patients and surgical suites for procedures Perform surgical nursing duties, including patient intake and discharge Rotate between inpatient and outpatient care Collaborate closely with veterinarians, who value technician input and communication Deliver compassionate patient care while educating clients Please Note Candidates must be comfortable assisting with surgery. This position does not provide surgical mentorship, so prior surgical experience is required. What You'll Bring to the Team A High School Diploma or equivalent. A calm and efficient approach, with the ability to handle a fast-paced and sometimes stressful environment with composure. Confidence and skill in handling pets of all sizes and temperaments. Strong organizational and communication skills. Proficiency in fundamental veterinary skills ranging from laboratory and pharmacy to nursing and radiology is a strong asset.
