Senior Project Engineer – Heavy Civil/Highway Date Posted: 04/29/2025 Location: Salt Lake City, UT Salary Interval: Salary Pay Range: $88,000.00 - $100,000.00 Benefits Competitive Pay Paid Time Off (PTO) Holiday Pay Medical, Dental, and Vision Insurance Retirement Plan – 401K, employees receive a company contribution up to 5% Tuition Reimbursement Growth and Career Advancement Starting Pay is DOE from 88K to 100K annually Position Description Responsible for various assigned project coordination, reports, scheduling, pricing, purchasing and/or lease of construction materials and equipment, job supplies, replacement and repair parts, permanent facility equipment and materials. Essential Duties: Assisting in public relations, claims, subcontractor back charges, and force account work Assisting in ensuring project’s contractor performance rating above 90 percent Processing all documents required to start-up project as outlined in project checklist. Updating and maintaining CPM under direction of PM. Monthly schedule distribution to field and subcontractors. Scheduling survey and inspections for field operations. Updating and maintaining as-built drawings if required. Tracking quantities to ensure accurate payment by Owner. Reviewing budgets and adjusting job costing. Managing change order correspondence and tracking. Assisting and ensuring timely and accurate Project close outs. Acting as a company liaison with Project Owner and all Subcontractors. Preparing RFIs, submittals, transmittals, change order logs and serial letters timely and accurately. Maintaining issue log weekly. Updating correspondence log weekly. Tracking project expenses and recording them in Heavy Job/Viewpoint on a weekly basis. Tracking progress of project activities and recording them on a weekly basis. Assisting the Scheduler with schedule updates in P6. Performing other duties as directed. Position Requirements Bachelor's degree (B.A, P.E.) from a four-year college, technical school or university in Civil Engineering or Construction Management preferred plus up to two years of related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience. A minimum of 4 years of project engineer experience in heavy civil/highway construction. A minimum of 4 years of bridge construction experience. A minimum of 4 years of working on major highway projects covering bridges, concrete paving, and heavy traffic. Knowledge of field concepts, practices, procedures pertaining to highway construction. Demonstrated ability to build relationships, communicate effectively at all levels and lead through influence with the purpose of driving change and delivering positive outcomes. Values and incorporates contributions of people from diverse backgrounds. Self‑motivated and able to work with limited supervision and as a team player. Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Highly organized, detail‑oriented, and display strong time‑management skills. Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint. Ability to work well under pressure, meeting tight, multiple, and sometimes conflicting deadlines. Ability to set priorities and multi‑task. Ability to think strategically, apply sound judgment, is resourceful, troubleshoot, and take initiative.
