Registered Nurse – Emergency Room / Observation Unit (Level 3)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Rotating Shifts – Days, Evenings, Nights, On Call, Call Back, Charge, Holidays, and Weekends as needed

Key Responsibilities

• Provide nursing care for adult patients in a fast-paced Observation unit that turns over 20–27 patients per day with an average length of stay of 27 hours
• Monitor and assess patients to determine whether their condition warrants hospital admission or safe discharge
• Care for a diverse adult population including both emergency observation and admitted boarding patients, ranging from short-stay to full admissions
• Function within a unit that maintains 24/7 provider coverage, adapting to varying acuity levels and patient needs
• Perform telemetry monitoring as required by patient condition and unit standards

Required Qualifications

• Active New York State RN License (NY License ONLY)
• Minimum two years of Med/Surg experience
• Telemetry experience required
• BLS certification – American Heart Association only
• NIHSS certification required
• ACLS certification – American Heart Association only

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in an emergency room or observation unit setting
• Comfort working in high-volume, fast-paced clinical environments with frequent patient turnover
• Experience with charge nurse responsibilities
