Professional Development Manager

POSITION OVERVIEW Professional Development Managers are the teachers and trainers of Illinois Judicial College faculty and curriculum and course planners. Professional Development Managers must have expertise in curriculum and course design, adult education practices, and a working knowledge of Judicial College Bylaws, policies, and standards. This position will design, deliver, and evaluate professional development curricula, courses, programs, and initiatives for audiences including Judicial College Standing Committee and Workgroup members, faculty, New Judge Cohort Leaders, Course Supervisors and AOIC staff within all Divisions. RESPONSIBILITIES Design, deliver, and evaluate professional development curricula, programs, courses, and initiatives for Judicial College constituents. Train curriculum, program, and course planners on curriculum design and faculty training. Instruct Judicial College constituents on executing Bylaws and policies, creating curriculum and courses, selecting and retaining faculty, fostering learner engagement and audience analysis, facilitating cohort discussions as New Judge Cohort Leaders, coaching and evaluating faculty as Course Supervisors, effecting meeting management, enhancing presentation strategies and skills, utilizing needs assessments, and integrating technology. Conduct interviews, surveys, and focus groups to identify learner needs and assess course feedback. Align professional development courses with professional competencies. Collaborate effectively with AOIC staff and manage portfolio responsibilities, prioritizing workflow and timelines. Apply Judicial College policies and NASJE curriculum and course design principles. Engage in strategic planning, project management, and ongoing objective self-assessment. Coordinate statewide event planning, including the Annual Meeting of the Judicial College, the Core Principles Workshop, and Faculty Development Workshops. Travel statewide (including Sunday departures and overnight stays) and occasionally out-of-state, maintaining professionalism, decorum, diplomacy, and confidentiality. PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS Minimum five years of relevant professional experience. Experience teaching adult learners online and in-person strongly preferred. Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s or Doctorate in a related area strongly preferred. Excellent critical thinking, interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills. Technology proficiency in Zoom, Slido, Google Suite, Microsoft Office Suite, Adobe Creative Suite, and related technologies. Knowledge of asynchronous, synchronous, blended, and hybrid learning designs. Working knowledge of the Illinois Judicial Branch, AOIC, Judicial College structure, Bylaws, policies, procurement policies, travel guidelines, and related fiscal and operational policies. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS This position requires in-state travel and occasional out-of-state travel, lifting and carrying objects up to approximately 25 lbs., sitting and/or standing for extended periods, and using computer and standard office equipment. A valid Illinois driver’s license is required or must be obtainable. Hybrid work privileges are subject to the Supreme Court of Illinois Remote Work Policy.
