Start Date: August 31, 2026 Location: Madras High School Hours: 8 hrs/day Monday 5:00am-1:30pm Tuesday - Friday 4:30am - 1pm

Position Summary The Cooks Helper under supervision of an assistant cook, head cook or a supervisor the employee performs the routine duties involved in the production and serving of food and in cleaning kitchen facilities and equipment as assigned. This is the entry and general helper level in the school meals program. Employees in this class receive on-the-job training in the basic food production and cafeteria operations from an assistant cook, head cook or a supervisor.

Education, Experience and Certification/Licensure (Minimum Qualifications) All cooks helper or others employed or contracted in that capacity must:

• Any combination of education, training, and experience which demonstrates ability to perform the duties and responsibilities as described within this job description
• Current Food Handler's Card or ability to obtain one upon hire.
• No experience required. Skills and abilities are learned on the job.
• Able to lift, push and pull 40lbs on a continual basis.

Preferred Qualifications

• Knowledge of national school lunch and school breakfast programs.
• Experience in the foodservice industry.

Compensation

• Wage Schedule: $17.45 - $21.93 per hour *26/27 wages TBD
