Job Description

Under the direction of the Radiologist and the CT Supervisor, this position is responsible for performing CT procedures according to departmental protocols at a technical level. The successful candidate will work independently in a fast-paced environment and perform a variety of technical procedures, including but not limited to interventional cases, CT Angiography, and advanced 3D reconstruction. This role requires independent judgment, creativity, and initiative to apply ionizing radiation while adhering to the ALARA principle for CT diagnosis.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Support and promote the mission and values of the organization.
• Acquire scans following radiologist and departmental protocols.
• Inform patients about examinations and provide instructions to ensure cooperation.
• Assist the Radiologist during Interventional Procedures.
• Coordinate daily workload by scheduling inpatients and prioritizing emergency department patients.
• Review IV Contrast Questionnaire with patients receiving IV contrast.
• Document progress and results in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR).
• Review exams in PACS for completeness before submission to the radiologist.
• Ensure the safety of all patients at all times.
• Demonstrate flexibility to assist with 24/7 departmental coverage.
• Arrive on time for all assigned shifts, including on-call, holidays, and weekends.
• Be prepared to work until the end of scheduled shifts.
• Complete mandatory learning, competencies, and continuing education units (CEUs) as required.
• Adhere to dress code policies.
• Maintain HIPAA compliance.
• Engage in cleaning, stocking of supplies, and laundry to uphold a professional workspace.
• Perform other duties as assigned consistent with this role.

Job Requirements

• Current ARRT certification required; ARRT CT Registry eligibility preferred.
• NH Imaging License required.
• BLS certification required.
• Experience in CT scans is required.
• An equivalent combination of education and experience providing proficiency in the specified areas may be considered.

Knowledge and Skills

• Proficient in CT Scan software; familiarity with GE and Siemens preferred.
• Knowledge of PACS software; experience with McKesson Change Healthcare preferred.
• Understanding of Electronic Medical Record systems, specifically Epic preferred.
• Ability to prepare and position patients while acquiring scans according to protocol.
• Capability to identify anatomy, pathology, and contrast enhancement on cross-sectional imaging.
• Experience in obtaining relevant patient history to ensure medical necessity.
• Commitment to reducing radiation exposure to patients and staff.
• Understanding daily quality assurance and warm-up procedures related to CT equipment.
• Adept at troubleshooting CT scan equipment and contacting service when necessary.
• Practice ALARA principles at all times.

Working Conditions/Physical Demands

Must possess the physical and mental abilities to perform the tasks associated with this position, which includes a combination of sitting, standing, walking, bending, stooping, and reaching. The role may require lifting and carrying of items weighing up to 35 pounds frequently, and occasionally up to 50 pounds. Some stress may be associated with the high level of responsibility for providing quality patient care.
