Founding Engineer

Ultralytics is hiring three founding engineers to form a second product team based in its new New York office. These roles function as tech leads who bring high ownership, production software experience, and a strong interest in AI experimentation to build and scale the company’s SaaS platform and related products.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead technical decisions and architecture choices for platform features as a tech lead.
• Own significant product components end to end, from initial build through production deployment, billing, and compliance.
• Build and maintain scalable cloud infrastructure and microservices that support real user sign-in and enterprise requirements.
• Experiment with and integrate new AI models and tools into production systems.
• Anticipate and address scalability, reliability, maintenance, and regulatory concerns before they become problems.
• Collaborate closely with product leadership on day-to-day technical direction in a distributed team.

Must haves:

• Tech-lead background leading technical direction for a cross-functional team (manager title not required).
• Strong love of AI demonstrated by personal experimentation outside work
• End-to-end ownership of a significant product component shipped to production in a smaller or mid-sized company environment, including backend, databases, and compliance considerations.
• Experience receiving and responding to critical feedback inside a mature organization with structured reviews and demanding clients.
• Software engineering focus with cloud infrastructure experience on GCP or AWS.

Nice to haves:

• GPU or high-performance machine at home for running models.
• Experience deploying products on-premise or in air-gapped environments.
• Computer vision background.
• Prior engineering management experience.
• Tech-lead work specifically on AI products.
