Laboratory Technical Supervisor

The Laboratory Technical Supervisor leads daily laboratory operations, ensuring efficient workflow, regulatory compliance, and high-quality patient testing. This full-time role requires a licensed CLS with experience in hospital lab leadership and focuses on staff mentorship, quality improvement, and operational excellence. Key Responsibilities:

• Supervise daily operations of laboratory sections, ensuring efficient workflow and high-quality patient testing.
• Schedule staff, assign duties, and manage staffing needs.
• Perform CLS duties as needed while maintaining regulatory compliance.
• Oversee laboratory testing, quality control, and documentation.
• Monitor turnaround times and implement process improvements.
• Train, mentor, evaluate, and support personnel through coaching and performance appraisals.
• Maintain and update laboratory policies and procedures in compliance with regulations.
• Manage inventory, supply ordering, and equipment maintenance.
• Review abnormal results, QC data, and assist staff with complex issues.
• Collaborate with leadership to recommend operational improvements.
• Participate in safety initiatives, committees, and in-service education.
• Assume Laboratory Director responsibilities during absence and perform additional duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

• Bachelor's Degree in Health Sciences, Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or equivalent field.
• Current California Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS) License.
• Minimum of five (5) years of hospital laboratory experience in general testing, quality control, and laboratory methodologies.
• Minimum of three (3) years of leadership experience in a Coordinator, Lead, Supervisor, or Manager role.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory regulations, accreditation standards, and quality management practices.
• Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, and problem-solving skills.

Preferred Skills:

• BLS (Basic Life Support) certification through the American Heart Association.
• Quality Assurance (QA) and Quality Improvement (QI) experience.
