As the nation's premier tire distributor, ATD’s coast-to-coast distribution network provides approximately 80,000 customers across the U.S. and Canada with rapid and frequent delivery of high quality tires, custom wheels and shop supplies.Position Description:The Accountant plays a key role in preparing the company's monthly financial statements, handling routine accounting entries, and ensuring accurate reconciliation of general ledger accounts. This role focuses on delivering timely and precise financial data and statements to senior management, as well as supporting both internal and external auditors during quarterly reviews and annual audits. Additionally, this role also has responsibility for managing fixed assets accounting, conducting bank reconciliations, preparing monthly journal entries, and generating required monthly and quarterly reports.Key ResponsibilitiesAssist in delivering timely and accurate financial data/statements to senior management and external/internal auditors.Assist in facilitating quarterly reviews and annual year-end audit by external auditors.Assist in facilitating timely and accurate ad hoc reporting requirements including governmental census requirements, miscellaneous information requests from senior management and other functional departments/distribution centers.Assist in Fixed Asset Tracking in software.Assist in the development and continued performance of a proper internal control environment around the general ledger function.Assist with the recording of judgmental reserves & estimates, account eliminations, and normal/routine accounting entries.Collaborate across functions to promote best practices as they relate to finance & accounting processes.Conduct monthly bank reconciliations for multiple accounts.Ensure accurate reconciliation of general ledger accounts by creating monthly reconciliations including review/development of account support / propose corrections & adjustments.Maintain reconciliations and amortization of certain prepaid expenses and related journal entries.Perform balance sheet account analysis and other analytical procedures as neededPrepare and load monthly/quarterly journal entries into accounting system.CompetenciesAction Planning - The ability to review and evaluate recommendations and requirements and to develop appropriate plans or deliver actions required.Action-Oriented - Taking on new opportunities and tough challenges with a sense of urgency, high energy, and enthusiasm.Balances Stakeholders - Anticipating and balancing the needs of multiple stakeholders.Communicates Effectively - Developing and delivering multi-mode communications that convey a clear understanding of the unique needs of different audiences.Compliance Management - Ability to plan, organize, control, and lead activities that ensure compliance with relevant laws and standards.Data Collection and Analysis - The ability and skill to determine and analyze trends from data that is collected to assist in compiling reports that will help in decision-making including proficient use of aligned software (e.g., Tableau, etc)Data Control - Ability and skill to acquire, organize, protect and process data in order to fulfill business objectives.Decision Quality - Making good and timely decisions that keep the organization moving forward.Financial Accounting - The ability and skill to apply financial accounting principles, classifying, measuring and recording company financial transactions including proficiency in related softwareFinancial Analysis - The ability and skills to analyze and assess the copmany's performance trends, and areas of improvement to make recommendationsInstills Trust - Gaining the confidence and trust of others through honesty, integrity, and authenticity.Nimble Learning - Actively learning through experimentation when tackling new problems, using both successes and failures as learning fodder.Plans & Aligns - Planning and prioritizing work to meet commitments aligned with organizational goals.Policy & Regulation - The ability and skill to interpret and apply knowledge of laws, regulations and policies in area of expertise.Reporting - The ability and skill to create reports for various audiences as relevant, in a lucid and effective manner, keeping in mind the purpose of reports.Spreadsheet Expertise - Ability to use spreadsheet software.Verbal Communication - Ability to express ideas, request actions, formulate plans, & policies by means of clear and effective verbal communications.Qualifications2 years of related experience preferredSkillsData Collection and AnalysisData ControlEnsures AccountabilityManages ComplexityNimble LearningPlans & AlignsOptimizes Work ProcessesPolicy & RegulationReportingSpreadsheet ExpertiseSituational AdaptabilityTech SavvyVerbal CommunicationCompliance ManagementAction PlanningFinancial AcumenAction-OrientedFinancial AccountingFinancial AnalysisPhysical Demands/Working ConditionsPhysical Demands Category:Our people are passionate about what they do, the product they sell, and the customers they serve.
