Business Applications Analyst

Ergon has an opening at our corporate office in Flowood, MS, for a Business Applications Analyst. The Business Applications Analyst position in the EHSS Systems area uses enterprise systems analysis skills and takes initiative to create value for Ergon's business units. Leads initiatives and liaises with business and technical groups to support client expectations for enterprise software. Daily contributions to assigned projects and directing and participating in the analysis, configuration, modification, documentation, testing, and implementation of supported applications. Translates business requirements into functional and technical specifications, workflows, data tables, prototypes, queries, and testing. Requires strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and ability to collaborate with management and technical personnel.Business Applications Analyst Key Competencies:The incumbent will partner with businesses, management, and technical personnel to:Capture written business justifications, gather requirements, and design solutionsDocument data information flow and system configurations via flow diagrams, written procedures, and other tools for current/future applications softwareCreate process flow documentation and provide end-user training on systemsCoordinate automated and small group testing of application changesApply project management principles to fulfill work efforts by completing and keeping tasks on track for successful outcomesLeverage Agile project management and software development life cycle skillsBusiness Applications Analyst Qualifications:Bachelor's degree in a Business Administration, Finance, IT or a related fieldThree years' experience in data analysis, business analysis, business requirements gathering, or a related fieldStrong process documentation skills and knowledge of business analysis toolsTest scenario creation and execution aligned with organizational goalsData analysis, metrics, and visualization with MS Power BI, Python, R, SQL, & TableauExperience conducting training sessions and workshops to end users and business teamsPreferred certification and experience in the below activities:Certified either as Business Analysis Professional (CBAP), PMI Professional in Business Analysis (PMI-PBA), or Project Management Professional (PMP)Mapping business functions and processes and writing technical design specifications andDocumenting business and IT processes through interviews with users and requirements workshops to understand assigned systems' process stepsUsing the software development life cycle for projects supportExperience working in a PMO or project management environment is preferredOSHA Process Safety Management and other regulatory compliance working with enterprise EHS or EHS&S systems (e.g., Benchmark, Enablon, Cority, IBM, Intelex, Sphera, SAP) is a plusEPA Regulatory Compliance (air emission calculations, Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA), waste/water permitting, environmental accounting, Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) is a plusApplying project management principles to organize, track, and complete tasks per specified plans - Related certification in Agile, SQL, or Scrum is a plusKnowledge of automated test tools is a plusUp to 30% travel is requiredBusiness Applications Analyst Responsibilities:Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives within supported applications that drive efficiency and value back into the business. Interact with internal and external team members to understand business and technical requirements supporting process improvements. Develop and execute test plans via automation and collaborative user acceptance tests with documented results.Engage effectively to build relationships with business partners to identify system functions and enhancement requirementsParticipate in analysis, development, testing, and implementation of system modules and projectsResearch and elicit user requirements to develop new applications and upgrade existing modulesProvide end-user training, support, and troubleshooting for business applicationsLead interview sessions with stakeholders and end-users to gather enterprise system requirementsMaintain interrelated systems analysis documentation (e.g., system context diagrams, data models)Interact frequently with team members and stakeholders to identify and address activity roadblocksChart business and/or IT processes using appropriate methods and toolsEnsure compliance with organizational policies and data security standardsCreate content and execute plans for quality assurance and user acceptance testing related to test case scenario development, acceptance testing facilitation, and logging test issues and resultsSupport business units with sign-off project documents (e.g., Design, Change Orders, & Requests)Coordinate with the relevant user groups for acceptance testing prior to production releaseServe on cross-functional teams to create training content and support training materials developmentParticipate in project planning, status meetings, and process improvement initiativesPlan, coordinate, schedule, and execute end-user system training & support sessionsOther duties as assignedWhy Ergon Inc.?
