Job Description
Join Our Dynamic Nursing Team - ICU/PCU Traveler Opportunity!

Job Description:


- Shift: 12-hour Nights, 7 PM - 7 AM, with weekend flexibility
- Unit Overview:
- Combination of ICU and PCU
- 16 ICU Beds and 14 PCU Beds
- Nurse to Patient Ratios:
- ICU: 1:1-2
- PCU: 1:3
- Certifications Required:
- BLS
- ACLS
- NIHSS
- Patient Population:
- No specialty patients for travelers, including:
- Vented, cardiac post PCI, impella, IABP
- Stroke - TNK, Targeted Temperature Management (TTM)
- Vascular (No CV surgical), traumas, EtOH, sepsis
- Overdose, some abdominal trauma and surgical cases
- CRRT, etc.
- Experience & Skills:
- Must have:
- Experience with Thermaguard/Zoll cooling and TTM
- EPIC experience
- Previous travel experience
- Preferred: 2 years of ICU experience
- Titration Duties:
- Yes, RNs are required to titrate drips
- Common drips include:
- Standard ICU drips, vasoactive, sedative, etc.
- PCU: Mild titrations with some pressors
- Charge Nurse Role:
- Charge nurse operates without an assignment, supporting both ICU and PCU
- Nursing Aids:
- 1 CNA per 8 patients
- Duties include vital signs, foley care, bathing, IV pulls, bladder scans, and specimen collection
- Medical Staff Coverage:
- Intensivist on-site 7 days a week (mostly days)
- Hospitalist in-house 24/7 with eICU for nights
- RT available in the unit 24/7
- Telemetry Support:
- Tele techs on the unit - RNs must be comfortable reading and interpreting telemetry strips
- Monitor Brand: Standard in-house and sister sites
- Scheduling Flexibility:
- Shifts are set from 7 PM to 7 AM
- Scheduling assistance provided; self-scheduling options or block scheduling may be available
- Weekend & Holiday Requirements:
- Typically every other weekend; could be less depending on needs
- Required to work holidays as needed
- Floating Requirements:
- Floating between ICU and PCU patients within the unit
- Dress Code:
- Navy Blue Scrubs
- Orientation:
- Two sessions on the unit for seamless integration
