JOB TITLE:

Receptionist

QUALIFICATIONS:

1. High School Diploma

2. Basic Computer and Office Equipment Skills

3. Proficient in Communication Skills

4. Familiarity with General Clerical Duties

5. Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable.

REPORTS TO:

Person designated by the board or the superintendent.

JOB GOAL:

To contribute to effective school-public relations by prompt and courteous handling of all inquiries and visitors.

PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:

1. Greets all visitors courteously, determines their needs, checks appointments, and directs or escorts them to proper person.

2. Answers office telephone and responds appropriately to requests for information.

3. Maintains an attractive and comfortable reception area that includes a reading table stocked with current school district publications and periodicals of general interest.

4. Reports immediately the presence in the building of any visitor who bypasses the reception.

5. Reads incoming material and sorts it according to particular file systems in use.

6. Clears files at designated intervals under a supervisor's direction.

7. Performs other duties as assigned.

The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.

TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT:

Salary and work year to be established by the Board. (230 days)

Performance of this job will be evaluated in accordance with provisions of the Board's policy on Evaluation of Support Services Personnel.
