Performs a wide variety of technical and professional duties to ensure the production of quality images of all anatomical structures for interpretation by Radiologist. Is cognizant of age specific standards. Performs computer Tomographic procedures under the direction of a Radiologist using appropriate professional and technical skills to produce quality images for medical diagnosis or treatment. To meet the staffing needs of the department, as necessary, Diagnostic Radiology staff may be assigned at any of the YNHH Diagnostic Radiology locations, regardless of your regularly assigned work location. EEO/AA/Disability/VeteranResponsibilitiesPerforms quality and efficient diagnostic radiographic examinations, to provide a source of information for interpretation by radiologist and viewing for referring physicians. Performs multiple tasks on a daily basis as a 'team member' to ensure that exams are completed in a timely manner. Ensures that images are correctly allocated in PACS system.Operates Radiographic equipment to ensure proper technical results.Prepares examination room ensuring cleanliness and adequate supplies to assure proper and accurate performance of exams.Performs quality and compassionate patient care, in order to ensure patient cooperation, safety and satisfaction.Performs various record keeping functions including, scheduling and accurate completion of exams. Communicates feedback in order to ensure the goals of the department are met and operations run efficiently.Participates in various teaching and/or learning opportunities in order to further his/her own personal knowledge and to assist in expanding the knowledge of others.Operates C.T. scanners plus any additional related medical equipment necessary to produce diagnostic and treatment C.T. images safely and efficiently.Chaperone patients when necessaryQualificationsEDUCATIONGraduation from an A.M.A. approved radiologic technology program and American Registry of Radiologic Technologists' Certification, and Connecticut State License. AS required, BS preferred.EXPERIENCEA.R.R.T. certification and demonstrated technical skills to meet entry level standards of routine radiography required. A.R.R.T (CT) certification preferred. Six (6) months to one (1) year of Computed Tomography experience required.LICENSURERT(R) certification by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), (ARRT) CT Certification, Connecticut State License, and CPR Certification required.SPECIAL SKILLSDemonstrated skills in use of Diagnostic Imaging equipment, image processing and image allocation. Must be knowledgeable of Radiography exam codes and Radiology information systems including scheduling, editing and completion functions. Must possess good communication, patient care and technical skills. Ability to set up and operate C.T. Scanning equipment and utilize scan/manage/display software programs. Is familiar with routine examination protocols and basic cross section anatomy. Willingness to learn and assist in medical dosimetry is required. Ability to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care appropriate to the age of the patients served.
