Job Title

Registered Nurse – IMC / PCU / Stepdown

Location

Redding, CA | PCU / Stepdown (Critical Care Stepdown)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 12-hour shifts (6:45 AM start) | 3 shifts per week | Onsite

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 14-bed PCU/Stepdown unit serving patients transitioning from the ICU who require closer monitoring than a telemetry level of care, at a 1:3 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Manage and monitor arterial lines, CVP pressure lines, tracheostomies, and stable ventilated patients
• Titrate drips including Precedex, dopamine, dobutamine, and Levophed per physician orders and unit protocols
• Care for high-acuity patient populations including TBI/trauma, post-major surgery, CEA, and sepsis patients
• Adhere to HCAHPS standards and core measures with a strong focus on patient experience
• Float to Telemetry or Med-Surg as needed; this unit is first to float

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license valid in California (or compact eligibility)
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in a PCU, ICU Stepdown, or comparable critical care stepdown setting
• Demonstrated experience titrating vasoactive and sedation drips, managing arterial/CVP lines, and caring for trach and stable vented patients

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Familiarity with HCAHPS metrics and core measures
• Experience with high-risk medication administration and telemetry monitoring
• Self-motivated, team-oriented, and comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with high patient turnover
• First-time travelers welcome, provided specialty experience requirements are met
