Located on GW's campus in downtown D.C., The George Washington University Museum and The Textile Museum celebrates art, history and world cultures. Public programs and exhibitions are inspired by diverse collections of global textiles and local history. Resources for students and scholars include the peer-reviewed The Textile Museum Journal, the Cotsen Textile Traces Study Center, and the Albert H. Small Center for National Capital Area Studies.

Position Specific Summary


This position is for the role of digital media assistant. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in ingesting the museum's communications photography files into its new digital asset management system, Terentia, following the established guidelines and workflows. This is a summer position that reports to the museum's digital asset management administrator. Responsibilities include the following:
• Upload legacy photography assets into Terentia following established protocols
• Apply keywords and descriptions to Terentia records, ensuring accuracy and consistency
• Work with the digit asset management administrator to ensure a smooth, timely ingest
pipeline
• Coordinate with the Communications team to verify assets are ready and available for
DAM users
• Additional support and special projects as needed

Standard Position Description


The student will provide assistance in management and planning for print, web, social media, and/or other digital content. Tasks may include: reviewing existing departmental websites and suggest edits, executing a marketing plan, website maintenance, updating and/or developing key materials and opportunities used to promoting departmental expertise and practices, editing or creating videos, and assisting in the management of social media channels, including writing and posting original content. Special projects or other duties may be assigned related to specific departmental/faculty needs.

Some applicable educational, technical, or professional experience required, some training will be provided.

Preferred Qualifications


Strong attention to detail; ability to maintain accuracy across repetitive tasks
• Experience managing large volumes of digital assets, filenames &
folder structures
• Familiarity with metadata & keywording best practices
• Working knowledge of Adobe tools, shared storage platforms and digital systems
