A family farm for generations to come, Carrollwood Farms is dedicated to showcasing and preserving the best of the region (to guests from near and afar) and is committed to being the best in all we do.Job Title Turf and Landscape Manager (full-time salaried)Reports To Director of Grounds and Infrastructure MaintenanceThe Turf and Landscape Manager is a full-time, salaried position requiring a flexible schedule including evening and weekend work. As with all positions at Carrollwood Farms, the Turf and Landscape Manager may be called upon to work in areas outside of their immediate area of responsibility.Key ResponsibilitiesYou'll play a key role in shaping and maintaining the beauty and functionality of our farm, with a particular emphasis on the care and maintenance of turf and landscape features. The farm is building a multi-faceted equestrian center with a sophisticated complex of turf and landscape features surrounding it, including but not limited to:Horse pastures, with the grass in those pastures to appear golf-course qualityLandscape features adjoining those pastures, including turf areas between pastures and road edges, landscape plantings, water features, and natural areasNumerous beds and plantings around the Equestrian CenterAn irrigation systemA beautified wild creek area between the Equestrian Center and the Chapel with trail and bridgeBeds, plantings, and wild areas near the Chapel and along the Chapel Road, including landscape plantings at the road entranceOther areas of responsibility for this position include, but are not limited to:Turf and plantings around a variety of residences and other buildings including an event barn, some with irrigation systemsTurf and plantings around future development including cottages, a winery and vineyard, and moreIn addition the property has trails, numerous road edges, fields, orchards, farm land, and forests. While the primary responsibility of this position is the care of the turf and landscapes described above, this position will as time allows also be involved in the care and upkeep of those areas.Specific Tasks (not comprehensive)Mow, edge, trim and otherwise maintain all types of turfOperate and maintain turf equipment including mowers, aerators, sprayers, tractors, and associated attachments including but not limited to drills, Brillion seeder, cone spreaders, boom sprayersOperate equipment including gators and skid steersApply fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides following safety and environmental regulations – including the safe disposal of productsIdentify when pests or disease are present and recommend solutionsMonitor and manage irrigation system and other water features including brooks, waterfalls, and fountainsManage damage to turf from horse hoovesKeep equipment clean, maintained, and in good working orderFollow all safety protocols for chemical handling and equipment operationLine trimming, chain sawing, mulching, planting, assisting in the installing of turf and landscape features, including gates and/or fencing when neededSnow and ice managementSupport grounds maintenanceKeep the grounds free of trash, debris, and litterLandscape clean-up, including leaf removal and debris clearingWhen appropriate, forestry mulchingRequired Qualifications3+ years of experience in a similar position, such as Head Greenskeeper, Superintendent of Grounds, Course SuperintendentDeep knowledge of and the ability to care for turf (including fescue blends) so that the turf will appear golf course quality or higherStrong knowledge of plant careCurrent pesticide licenseValid driver's license with a clean driving recordProficiency in using turf management and landscaping tools safelyAbility to work outdoors in varying weather conditions, including bending, pulling, pushing, climbing, and liftingStrong attention to detail and a commitment to qualityExcellent communication and interpersonal skillsA genuine passion for creating a beautiful and functional environmentBe a team player with a positive attitude and a willingness to learnWillingness to work hardFlexible scheduleA "no job is too small" mindsetExcellent time and project management skills.Must be able to bend, lift, kneel, and twist.Must be able to lift up to 70 pounds occasionally, and 50 lbs regularly.Must be able to walk, sit, and stand for long periods of time.Occasionally work during the rain.Ability to supervise others and inspire others to excellence.Desired QualificationsBachelor's degree or higher in agronomy or turf science.Good knowledge of tree careCDL-A or CDL-B
