Job Description

The Engineer (Paint Process Systems) is responsible for the design, programming, testing, implementation, and optimization of robotic painting solutions for automotive, heavy truck, and Tier I suppliers. This role combines robot programming, spray application engineering, and on-site system support , with significant customer interaction and travel.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Install, launch, optimize, and troubleshoot robotic paint programs at customer sites
• Develop offline robot programs usingROBOGUIDEandPaintPROsimulation software
• Perform process system verification testing using System Verification Manuals
• Conduct spray testing and customer demonstrations in laboratory settings
• Provide technical troubleshooting and support for existing installations
• Perform feasibility studies and process engineering analyses for paint automation systems
• Optimize integration of application equipment, including bell atomizers and fluid delivery systems
• Train FANUC America engineers and customers on process and application equipment
• Record and interpret paint quality data (film builds, defects, color and quality metrics)
• Recommend improvements to robot and application equipment performance and cost reduction
• Assist with updates to system verification manuals and troubleshooting methods
• Up to 80% travel in North America, Mexico and Canada

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or related technical discipline (or equivalent experience)
• Knowledge of paint and powder application systems, spray guns, and bell atomizers
• Experience with fluid delivery, pumping, and rotary atomizer systems
• Machine vision systems
• Experience launching robot systems at customer facilities
• Familiarity with PaintPRO and/or other offline programming software
• Analytical, problem-solving skills – ability to identify causes and offer potential solutions.
• Organizational skills – effectively and professionally organize and plan for many simultaneous and complex issues.
• Team player - successfully work in teams with colleagues in varying responsibilities and backgrounds, personal initiative, and ability to effectively manage themselves in a somewhat unstructured environment.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills including listening, presenting, and effective written and oral communication.
• Proven high level of competency in Windows, MS Office including Word, PowerPoint, Excel
