S23 - AI Product Engineer Location: San Francisco, CA (On-site) Salary: $180,000-$280,000 + Equity About the Role An applied AI research lab is hiring a Product Engineer to help turn its research into real, usable software. The company builds the infrastructure that trains specialised AI agents, converting real-world data into simulated training environments, and counts some of the biggest names in AI among its customers. This is a generalist role at a very early stage company. You'll be working across the full stack, building 0 to 1 products directly with customers, with very little structure around you. If you like a clear spec and a defined roadmap, this probably isn't the one. Key Responsibilities
- Build 0 to 1 products from scratch, turning ambiguous customer and research workflows into usable software
- Work directly with customers to understand what they actually need and translate that into shipped product
- Own full-stack product work, covering frontend, backend, data models and internal tooling
- Build interfaces for inspecting traces, validating environments and reviewing model behaviour
- 1-5 years of full-stack product engineering experience with TypeScript, React and Python
- Startup background, ideally as a founding engineer, founder, or early hire at a seed or Series A company
- A track record of shipping 0 to 1 products with real users in messy, undefined environments
- Comfortable talking directly to customers and turning what they say into product decisions
- Based in San Francisco and able to work on-site five days a week
- Work on infrastructure used by some of the biggest names in AI
- True 0 to 1 ownership at a very early stage, high trust environment
- Strong comp with competitive equity
- Small team, direct access to the founder, and real say in what gets built next
