Are you an Embedded Software Engineer who enjoys working close to the hardware and seeing your software come to life in a real-world product?

Our client is looking for an experienced Embedded Software Engineer to join their engineering team in Brooklyn Park, MN. This is an opportunity to work on high-resolution industrial printing technology , developing embedded software for current and next-generation print controllers and printheads powered by high-performance SoC application processors.

You’ll have the opportunity to work across the full embedded software development lifecycle—from requirements and architecture through coding, debugging, testing, integration, and production support—while partnering closely with hardware engineers, test engineers, and product teams.

What You'll Work On

• Design, develop, and implement embedded software for high-resolution print controllers and printheads .
• Develop and maintain software using C and C++ in embedded environments.
• Work with embedded Linux and real-time operating systems (RTOS) .
• Analyze system requirements and translate them into reliable, scalable software solutions.
• Work closely with hardware engineers to support hardware/software integration , troubleshooting, and system-level development.
• Develop efficient, modular, and well-documented code.
• Perform unit testing, debugging, and troubleshooting to ensure software meets product requirements.
• Collaborate with test engineers to validate software performance, functionality, and reliability.
• Participate in architecture, code, and design reviews.
• Diagnose issues and implement software improvements, updates, and bug fixes.
• Contribute to software documentation, configuration management, and ongoing product maintenance.
• Support manufacturing and customers when technical issues require engineering expertise.
• Balance multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced engineering environment.

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or a related engineering discipline.
• 4+ years of professional embedded software development experience.
• Strong programming skills in C and C++ .
• Hands-on experience with embedded systems, embedded Linux, and/or RTOS environments .
• Experience developing and troubleshooting software that interfaces directly with hardware.
• Experience with 32-bit and 64-bit microcontrollers and/or processors .
• Strong understanding of hardware/software integration .
• Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and component datasheets .
• Experience with software configuration management, defect tracking, and code review processes.
• Automation experience is highly desirable, particularly within an industrial automation or manufacturing environment .
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills with the ability to work through complex technical problems.
• Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities while meeting time-sensitive deadlines.
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the ability to work effectively across engineering and product teams.
• Comfortable working independently while also contributing as part of a collaborative engineering organization.

Work Environment

This is an onsite position in Brooklyn Park, MN . The primary work environment is a clean engineering/office setting, with periodic exposure to the manufacturing environment, including machine noise and dust. The role also involves periodic standing and walking.

Compensation

Starting at $105,000+ annual base salary, depending on experience and qualifications.

Work Authorization
