Senior Principal Scientist

Senior Principal Scientist position within Pfizer's Vaccines R&D group focused on analytical strategy and method development for early-phase vaccine candidates. The role combines scientific leadership of a research team with hands-on expertise in analytical characterization of complex biologics, requiring extensive experience in method development, qualification, and cross-functional collaboration.

Responsibilities

• Define and lead analytical control strategies for multiple vaccine programs aligned with product quality and development milestones
• Manage and provide scientific direction to a team of scientists with focus on execution and professional development
• Lead development, optimization, qualification, and lifecycle management of separation-based and physicochemical analytical methods
• Represent analytical development on cross-functional teams; communicate technical risks and data-driven recommendations to leadership
• Drive innovation in analytical technologies, automation, and digital tools to enhance scientific insight and decision quality

Requirements

• PhD in analytical chemistry, biochemistry, pharmaceutical sciences, or related discipline with 8+ years experience
• Advanced expertise in analytical method development and characterization of biologics or vaccine modalities
• Demonstrated scientific team leadership including prioritization, guidance, coaching, and talent development
• Extensive hands-on experience with separation techniques such as liquid chromatography or capillary electrophoresis
• Proven track record of method development, qualification, transfer, and technical documentation across programs
• Ability to influence cross-functional teams, communicate complex conclusions to diverse audiences, and manage data integrity

Compensation: $124,400–$207,400 base salary, 17.5% bonus target
