Buyer Domestic

The Buyer Domestic is responsible for managing the procurement of products within assigned commodities, with a focus on strategic sourcing, cost management, inventory optimization, and supplier performance. This position plays a critical role in ensuring operational efficiency and supporting business objectives through effective collaboration with suppliers, internal teams, and logistics partners. The Buyer Domestic is expected to exercise independent judgment, prioritize competing demands, and contribute to the continuous improvement of the purchasing function.

Position salary starts at 65K

Essential duties and responsibilities include serving as the primary point of contact for suppliers within assigned domestic commodities, managing the full procurement cycle, proactively monitoring unconfirmed and past-due purchase orders, overseeing and coordinating inventory transfers, investigating and resolving discrepancies related to orders, invoices, deliveries, and product quality, collaborating with suppliers to expedite, delay, or adjust shipments, aligning purchasing activities with demand planning, sales forecasts, and customer orders, developing and maintaining relationships with alternative suppliers, tracking and updating product costs, supplier lead times, and commodity trends, leveraging market data, pricing trends, and sales insights to continuously improve sourcing strategies and supplier performance, partnering with supply chain, operations, and finance teams to identify inefficiencies and lead process improvements, supporting team members during peak periods or absences, and performing other related duties as needed to support departmental and business priorities.

Education, qualifications, skills, and abilities include a Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, operations, logistics, or a related field preferred; minimum of 3 years' experience in purchasing, procurement, or inventory management; familiarity with forecasting, MRP systems, and end-to-end supply chain operations; industry experience in distribution, manufacturing, or a related environment is a plus; proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite; experience with SAP or similar ERP systems preferred; strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a focus on data-driven decision-making; effective communication and collaboration skills with the ability to influence internal and external partners; self-starter with sound judgment, strong prioritization skills, and attention to detail; demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and support cross-functional initiatives; and a customer-oriented mindset with a proactive and adaptable approach to changing business needs.
