Join our team and help make an impact in your community today!Schedules Available:Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:30pm (rotating on call every four weeks).Position OverviewThe Plant and Equipment Technician II is responsible for ensuring the proper maintenance and functionality of fleet vehicles and mechanical equipment across all The Blood Connection facilities. This role plays a key part in supporting operational efficiency by maintaining facilities and equipment in optimal working condition, while also ensuring supplies are well-stocked, orderly, and neatly organized.Essential FunctionsFleet Vehicles (motor pool): Assists in tracking and documenting the maintenance of the organization's fleet vehiclesPerforms fabrication and assembly of metal structures and equipment using welding, cutting, and measuring toolsSchedules mechanic services and, when qualified, performs mechanical repairs on fleet vehiclesFacilities: Supports and helps oversee maintenance and recordkeeping for company grounds, including landscaping, irrigation systems, parking areas, exterior lighting, signage, waste handling areas, and other external property featuresCoordinates maintenance schedules and performs maintenance tasks when qualifiedBuildings: Assists with building maintenance and documentation, including scheduling work and performing repairs when qualifiedMaintains the overall appearance of both interior and exterior building areasOperational Equipment: Supports operational staff in scheduling and completing equipment maintenanceAssists with maintenance recordkeeping as neededParticipates in special projects as assignedAdditional Responsibilities: Provides periodic assistance with bus deliveries and pickupsFollows all safety protocols and proceduresPerforms other duties as assignedMinimum QualificationsCompletion of technical or vocational training in building maintenance or fleet (automotive and truck) service and repair, or a minimum of 3 years of relevant experience in these fields3 plus years of related experience preferredValid CDL with a clean driving record, or the ability to obtain a Class B license within 4 months of hireReliable transportation requiredWelding experience a plusAbility to understand and follow both written and verbal instructionsStrong interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate professionally, tactfully, and respectfully with patrons, donors, sponsors, and colleaguesComfortable working across all levels of the organization and within a diverse team environmentProven ability to build and maintain effective working relationships with peers, management, and staffPhysical DemandsThe physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
