You will define architectural direction and set the technical standard across core engineering technologies, shaping priorities that span multiple teams and enhance the user experience across Snap's product line. You'll work closely with engineers and cross-functional partners in Seattle, Los Angeles, and Palo Alto to deliver the highest quality products for our customers.What You'll DoPartner with internal and external stakeholders to re-envision and scale Core Engineering technologies, including the design and build of a suite of AI AgentsDrive technical excellence and governance of AI Agents as use-cases are identified across Snap EngineeringCollaborate across teams to understand product requirements, evaluate architectural trade-offs, and deliver solutions needed to build innovative products and servicesChampion best practices in availability, scalability, operational excellence, and cost managementServe as a technical mentor to senior engineers and a thought partner to engineering leadersContribute to the technical roadmap for AI Agents and Core SWE infrastructure, ensuring alignment with organizational goalsPartner closely with Product, Finance, Sales, and Engineering teams distributed across multiple officesInfluence key architectural and implementation decisions for scalable, reliable, and cost-effective engineering solutionsIterate quickly without compromising quality and continuously raise the bar on operational excellenceAdapt technical plans nimbly in response to evolving customer and business needsKnowledge, Skills & Abilities:Excellent programming and software design skills, including debugging, performance analysis, and test designProven track record of operating highly-available systems at scaleAbility to proactively learn new concepts and technology and apply them at workSkilled at solving ambiguous problemsStrong collaboration and mentorship skillsMinimum QualificationsBachelor's Degree in a relevant technical field such as computer science or equivalent years of practical work experience9+ years of post-Bachelor’s software development experience; or a Master’s degree in a technical field + 8+ year of post-grad software development experience; or a PhD in a related technical field + 5+ years of post-grad software development experienceExperience as a technical lead, domain expert or owner of complex technical initiativesExperience building large scale storage, backend or distributed systems Preferred QualificationsDemonstrated experience as a principal-level technical leader driving architecture and standards across multiple teams and codebasesPrevious experience partnering with cross-functional leaders and stakeholders across a globally distributed organizationTrack record of designing and building AI Agents in a rapidly changing and highly collaborative environmentDeep knowledge of and experience working effectively within diverse engineering organizationsProven ability to deliver in fast-paced, multi-site, multi-stakeholder environments while maintaining technical rigorIf you have a disability or special need that requires accommodation, please don’t be shy and provide us some information.Default Together Policy at Snap: At Snap Inc. we believe that being together in person helps us build our culture faster, reinforce our values, and serve our community, customers and partners better through dynamic collaboration. The successful candidate’s starting pay will be determined based on job-related skills, experience, qualifications, work location, and market conditions.
