A well-established hospital near Charleston, WV, seeks a dedicated Blood Bank Coordinator to manage blood bank and transfusion services operations, ensuring safe, efficient, and compliant practices in patient care and blood handling.

Primary Responsibilities:

• Oversee blood collection, storage, and transfusion activities to ensure smooth daily operations.
• Ensure compliance with FDA, AABB, CAP, and CLIA standards, performing quality checks for blood product integrity.
• Manage blood supply inventory and liaise with suppliers for reliable stock levels.
• Support and guide lab technicians, and conduct training on safety protocols and best practices.
• Maintain detailed records of all blood bank operations, from inventory to transfusions, ensuring policy and legal adherence.
• Collaborate with clinical staff to facilitate accurate patient testing and cross-matching.

ASCP Blood Bank Coordinator Qualifications:

• Education: Bachelor's in Medical Technology, Clinical Laboratory Science, or a related field.
• Certification: ASCP Medical Technologist (MT) or Specialist in Blood Banking (SBB) preferred.
• Experience: 2+ years in blood bank or lab settings, with at least 1 year in a supervisory role.
• Skills: Knowledge of blood bank protocols, attention to detail, experience with LIS, and strong organizational skills.
