Job Title

Registered Nurse (RN) – IMC/PCU/Stepdown

Location

Omaha, NE | Progressive Care Unit (PCU)

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Days | 12-hour shifts (0630–1900 / 1830–0700) | Every other weekend required | Every third holiday required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a 35-bed Progressive Care Unit serving adult and geriatric populations with diagnoses including cardiac conditions, nephrology, stroke, diabetes, and continuous EEG monitoring
• Maintain nurse-to-patient ratios of 1:4–5, collaborating with patient care techs assigned at a 1:10 ratio
• Titrate drips including Cardizem, beta-blockers, and seizure medications as required
• Float as needed to medical floors, ICU, or rehab units
• Demonstrate strong critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving skills in a fast-paced environment
• Comply with facility fingernail policy — artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license
• BLS certification required
• ACLS certification required
• NIHSS certification required
• Valid driver's license required at time of submittal (used to verify radius eligibility)
• Must live more than 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Candidate may not currently hold full-time, part-time, or PRN employment with any facility associated with CommonSpirit, including CHI and/or Dignity Health
• All requested time off (7 days or fewer per 13-week contract) must be submitted upfront; additional RTO will not be approved after submission
• Must successfully pass an open-book skills exam during orientation with a score of 90% or higher

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in a PCU, stepdown, or IMC setting
• Experience titrating cardiac and neurological drips
• Familiarity with continuous EEG monitoring
• Experience caring for cardiac, nephrology, and stroke patient populations
