CT Technologist-Full Time-Evening

Responsibilities Provides health care services applying x‑ray energy and computer processing techniques to assist in diagnosis or treatment. Performs computed tomography and related procedures to demonstrate sectional anatomic images for interpretation by, or at the request of, a licensed practitioner. Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complementary to medical ethics. Provides appropriate patient care and ensures recognized patient conditions essential for successful completion of the procedure. Performs exams following modality‑specific protocols resulting in high‑quality images using appropriate imaging techniques. Demonstrates working knowledge of modality‑specific ancillary equipment such as laser camera, fluoroscopic equipment, contrast injectors, QC phantoms, Gus cleaning units, CR readers, PACS/RIS workstations, CAD workstations, dose calibrators, and flood sources. Appropriately stores, handles, and administers modality‑specific contrast agents, including barium, iodinated oral contrast, and intravenous contrast agents. Maintains documentation and ensures accuracy of all pertinent patient and procedural data such as patient history, exam title, demographics, laterality markers, and modality‑specific questionnaires and screening tools. Prepares patients for procedures by providing clear instructions, gaining cooperation, and minimizing anxiety in accordance with patient education standards. Applies safety principles to minimize risks to patients, self, and others by following established standards such as Alara, Image Gently, and MRI safety. Conducts ongoing patient assessment during procedures, monitors patient condition, and assumes responsibility for physical or psychological needs, ensuring patient safety. Provides pre‑ and post‑procedure patient education. Assists as needed to perform modality‑specific QA/QC procedures, ensuring equipment operates within manufacturer and regulatory guidelines. Assumes responsibility for assigned area, ensuring all rooms are clean, stocked with supplies, and meet the standards set by each modality. Participates in modality‑specific PI plans. Contributes to efficient department operation through written or verbal communication with lead technologists, training on equipment, patients, and other staff members. Demonstrates computer literacy and application of computer programs including HIS, RIS, PACS, and ancillary CAD applications. Displays analytical and basic problem‑solving skills. Follows all time and attendance policies. Attends educational programs related to job responsibilities as required. Maintains all licenses and professional accreditation, including society‑specific CMEs required. Performs IV contrast injections in accordance with hospital and NYS DOH guidelines. Qualifications Graduate from an A.M.A. approved school of Radiological Technology. Hold a NYS Registered Radiologic Technologist license that includes injection certification. Experience 2 years CT experience preferred. Registered in A.R.R.T. (R) required. Registered in A.R.R.T. (CT) preferred. BLS certification required. Working Conditions Manual: some manual skills/motor coordination and finger dexterity required. Occupational: some occupational risk. Physical effort: very heavy effort; may exert up to 50 lbs force.
