Shipping and Receiving Clerk

The Shipping and Receiving Clerk accurately receives, inspects, stores, and ships inventory within a warehouse environment while following established procedures and safety standards. This role supports inventory control, ensures on-time and accurate shipments, and collaborates closely with warehouse team members to meet production and distribution goals.

Responsibilities

• Receive, unload, and store incoming inventory items in accordance with company protocols and procedures.
• Perform quality control checks on incoming and outgoing shipments to verify product accuracy, quantity, and overall integrity.
• Operate shipping equipment and systems to safely transport, process, and verify materials within the warehouse.
• Locate, pick, and stage products for distribution to production workers, assembly lines, or shipping areas.
• Label packages and materials accurately using shipping systems and RF scanners, ensuring correct documentation and routing.
• Assist with inventory management by tracking stock levels, updating inventory records, and reporting discrepancies.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area, consistently adhering to all safety standards, procedures, and regulations.
• Coordinate daily workflow with team members to support production schedules and meet shipping deadlines.
• Communicate professionally with coworkers and other departments to resolve issues related to inventory, orders, and shipments.
• Support general warehouse and material handling tasks as needed to ensure smooth operations.

Essential Skills

• Familiarity with warehouse operations and standard material handling practices.
• Experience with inventory control or stockroom activities (06 months of experience preferred).
• Knowledge of shipping systems and processes, including carrier platforms such as FedEx.
• Ability to use RF scanners for locating, picking, and tracking inventory.
• Proficiency with basic computer applications, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Strong organizational skills to manage multiple tasks, prioritize workload, and maintain accurate records.
• Professional communication skills to interact effectively with team members and other departments.
• Strong attention to detail to ensure accurate labeling, documentation, and shipment verification.
• Understanding of safety standards and protocols in a warehouse environment.
• Comfort with general labor tasks in a warehouse and shipping setting.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Previous experience in warehouse, material handling, or shipping and receiving roles is preferred.
• Clerical or administrative assistant duties related to inventory or logistics is an asset.
• Experience working with logistics processes and carrier systems is beneficial.
• Ability to adapt to changing priorities and support different areas of the warehouse as needed.
• Willingness to learn new systems, tools, and processes to support continuous improvement.

Work Environment

The role is based primarily in a warehouse and shipping area, where the employee spends more than 90% of their time. The Shipping and Receiving Clerk works closely with a small team of three or more employees in a collaborative and fast-paced environment. Standard hours are Monday through Friday, with shifts running from 6:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Monday through Thursday and from 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Fridays. Occasional overtime may be available depending on operational needs. The position involves regular use of shipping equipment, RF scanners, and computer systems to manage inventory and shipments, and requires adherence to all safety protocols while performing physical warehouse tasks.

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Saugerties, NY.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $20.00 - $22.00/hr.
