We are seeking a creative, organized, and mission-driven Social Media Coordinator to help expand our digital presence, strengthen community engagement, and share the stories that bring our mission to life.
Department
The Social Media Coordinator is a member of the Creative Department , working collaboratively with the Graphic Design Intern and UI/UX Design Intern to ensure all digital communications reflect the Yes, M.I.S.S. Inc. brand and create an engaging online experience.
What You Will Do
Social Media Strategy & Content Management
- Create, manage, and maintain the organization's social media content calendar in Monday.com.
- Schedule and publish content across Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and TikTok using Buffer or other approved scheduling tools.
- Write captions and copy that align with the organization's voice, mission, and brand guidelines.
- Coordinate with the Graphic Design Intern to ensure all creative assets are delivered and published on schedule.
Community Engagement
- Grow the organization's visibility and online presence through intentional community engagement.
- Monitor and respond to comments and direct messages as appropriate.
- Build meaningful engagement with students, educators, volunteers, donors, corporate partners, and community supporters.
- Stay informed on nonprofit and social media trends to diversify content and improve audience engagement across platforms.
Storytelling & Content Collaboration
- Partner with the Event Coordinator to collect photos and videos from organizational events.
- Transform event content into engaging social media stories that highlight the impact of Yes, M.I.S.S. Inc.'s programs.
- Support storytelling efforts that celebrate participants, volunteers, corporate partners, schools, and donors.
Analytics & Continuous Improvement
- Track and report weekly KPI metrics, including:
- Engagement Rate
- Website Clicks
- Reach
- Impressions
- Audience Growth
- Content Performance
- Identify trends and recommend improvements based on performance data.
- Present KPI updates during weekly team meetings.
Collaboration
- Attend weekly department meetings with the Creative Team.
- Meet weekly with the Operations Manager to review priorities, assignments, and KPI progress.
- Collaborate with cross-functional interns to support organizational campaigns, fundraising initiatives, volunteer recruitment, and program promotion.
Qualifications
- Strong understanding of Instagram, LinkedIn, Facebook, and TikTok.
- Excellent written communication skills.
- Organized with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
- Comfortable using project management software such as Monday.com.
- Familiarity with Buffer or similar scheduling platforms is a plus.
- Passion for nonprofit marketing, storytelling, and community engagement.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a creative team while managing responsibilities independently.
Onboarding & Support
Comprehensive Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), templates, and training materials will be provided during onboarding. The Social Media Coordinator will receive structured guidance, ongoing mentorship, and weekly support from the Creative Team and Operations Manager.
Capstone Leadership Project
As part of your internship experience, you will complete a Capstone Leadership Project designed to strengthen the long-term success of Yes, M.I.S.S. Inc. We believe great leaders don't just complete the work—they build systems that help others succeed.
Capstone Project Requirements
At the conclusion of your internship, you will prepare your department for a smooth transition by:
- Creating a transition plan for the next intern in your role.
- Reviewing and updating your role's Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), templates, and resources.
- Organizing files, links, and documentation so they are easy to locate and use.
- Recording recommendations, lessons learned, and opportunities to improve the role.
- Participating in a knowledge transfer session to help onboard the next intern and set them up for success.
This capstone project is an opportunity to demonstrate leadership, professionalism, and your ability to create lasting impact. Your goal is to leave your department stronger, more organized, and better prepared for the person who follows you.
Professional Development
As part of the Creative Department, you will collaborate with designers, project managers, and nonprofit professionals while gaining hands-on experience in nonprofit communications, digital marketing, content strategy, and brand management. You will also have opportunities to connect with industry professionals, corporate partners, and experienced marketing volunteers who will support your growth throughout the internship.
