Aeronautical Engineer (Structures) - Early Career

Overview Lockheed Martin Aeronautics is seeking a full‑time Early Career Finite Element Analysis (FEA) Engineer. The role involves planning, developing, verifying, validating, documenting, and configuring Finite Element Models (FEMs) and associated analyses. Responsibilities Plan, develop, verify, validate, document, and control configuration of Finite Element Models, analyses, and results under direction of the FEA Function. Perform detail part and component finite element analysis and internal load development at the platform or vehicle level. Develop stress equations, stress gradients, stress histories, test spectra, and evaluate test loading. Define instrumentation requirements for FEA validation using ground or flight tests. Basic Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical, Aeronautical, Aerospace Engineering; Civil Engineering considered. Coursework in Finite Element Analysis. Experience with MSC Patran, Femap, HyperMesh, or other finite element preprocessing software. Experience with NASTRAN and Abaqus Finite Element Analysis software. Desired Skills Experience with Python, C/C++ or other programming architecture. Experience using CATIA, Siemens NX CAD or other 3‑D design modeling platform. Experience with Linux operating system. Experience with free‑body diagrams. Experience in Advanced Aircraft Analysis. Familiarity with AI/Machine Learning scripting. Experience with coupon testing and analysis. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to work in a collaborative team environment. Proficiency with Microsoft Office. Security Clearance This position requires a US citizenship and a government security clearance at the Secret level. The role is located at a facility requiring special access.
