Senior Solution Architect – Dell PowerEdge Infrastructure

Location: New York, NY – Fully Onsite
Schedule: Monday–Friday, normal business hours (EST)

Duration: 13 Months

Position Overview

The Senior Solution Architect will provide hands-on technical leadership and knowledge transfer for Dell PowerEdge server infrastructure. This role focuses on helping customer teams transition from existing server-management tools to Dell management platforms and best practices.

The consultant will proactively demonstrate how to maximize the value of Dell server technologies through monitoring, reporting, automation, integration, lifecycle management, and virtualization support. The goal is to ensure the customer can independently manage and optimize the server environment after the engagement concludes.

Key Responsibilities Dell Server Management and Knowledge Transfer

• Provide technical expertise for Dell PowerEdge R860 server environments.
• Assist customer teams with adopting Dell server-management tools and capabilities.
• Deliver knowledge-transfer sessions covering:
  • OpenManage Enterprise (OME)
  • Integrated Dell Remote Access Controller (iDRAC)
  • Dell CloudIQ
  • Server monitoring and reporting
  • Automation and integration
  • VMware and virtualization support
• Demonstrate Dell best practices for server administration, management, and optimization.
• Develop procedures and guidance to help customer teams manage the server stack independently.

Infrastructure Monitoring and Optimization

• Monitor, review, and manage the server environment.
• Identify performance, reliability, capacity, and operational improvement opportunities.
• Provide proactive recommendations based on Dell best practices.
• Assist with troubleshooting hardware, firmware, management, and integration issues.
• Support optimization of server operations and management processes.

Service Request and Incident Management

• Lead the opening, tracking, management, and closure of service requests.
• Coordinate with technical teams and vendors to resolve infrastructure issues.
• Review incident trends and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
• Assist with root-cause analysis and corrective-action planning.

Server Lifecycle Management

• Assist with server lifecycle-management activities.
• Support firmware, driver, hardware, and software updates.
• Help plan and coordinate maintenance and upgrade activities.
• Maintain accurate records of infrastructure configurations and lifecycle status.
• Recommend improvements to lifecycle and operational procedures.

Process Review and Continuous Improvement

• Review IT processes and policies related to incident, capacity, change, and service management.
• Recommend improvements to operational efficiency and infrastructure reliability.
• Assist with documentation of procedures, policies, and best practices.
• Help establish repeatable processes for long-term server administration.

Required Qualifications

• U.S. citizenship required.
• Strong hands-on experience with Dell PowerEdge servers, preferably PowerEdge R860.
• Experience with Dell server-management and monitoring tools.
• Knowledge of OpenManage Enterprise, iDRAC, and CloudIQ.
• Experience troubleshooting and optimizing enterprise server infrastructure.
• Understanding of server lifecycle management, firmware updates, and maintenance processes.
• Familiarity with VMware or enterprise virtualization environments.
• Strong communication, presentation, and knowledge-transfer skills.
• Proactive, customer-focused approach with the ability to lead technical activities independently.
• Ability to work fully onsite in New York, New York.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience supporting enterprise or government server environments.
• Knowledge of Dell EMC infrastructure-management best practices.
• Experience with server automation, reporting, monitoring, and integration.
• Familiarity with client server-management platforms and migration to Dell management tools.
• Experience with service-request management and vendor coordination.
• Background in infrastructure optimization and continuous service improvement.
