Role Description The Solar Journeyman Electrician is a full-time, hybrid role based in Richmond, VA, with some flexibility for work-from-home tasks such as documentation and planning. Day-to-day responsibilities include installing, wiring, and connecting solar electrical systems, performing electrical maintenance and repairs, and ensuring all work complies with local and national electrical codes. The role also involves diagnosing and troubleshooting system issues, conducting safety checks, and coordinating with project managers and installation crews to keep projects on schedule. The Solar Journeyman Electrician will complete technical documentation, support inspections, and contribute to continuous improvement of installation standards and processes. Qualifications Strong foundational knowledge of electricity and practical electrical work skills for solar installations. Experience with electrical maintenance & repair and system troubleshooting in residential or commercial environments. Understanding of basic electrical engineering principles related to solar PV systems and grid interconnection. Current Journeyman Electrician license (or equivalent) in Virginia, or ability to obtain it within a defined timeframe. Familiarity with NEC and local electrical codes, plus experience with solar PV, inverters, and related equipment. Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation. Commitment to safety, including proper use of PPE and adherence to company safety protocols. Reliable transportation to Richmond, VA project sites and ability to work outdoors in varying conditions. Effective communication and teamwork skills, with the ability to collaborate with installers, engineers, and project managers.
