Associate Attorney

Our client, a well-established defense litigation firm, is seeking a talented Associate Attorney with 3-5+ years of experience to join their practice in Chicago. This role will focus primarily in the areas of civil defense and insurance coverage litigation, including the defense of claims in the areas of construction, property and casualty, civil rights, professional liability, serious personal injury and wrongful death.

Responsibilities

• Independently manage a diverse caseload of civil defense and insurance coverage matters
• Draft coverage opinions and provide legal analysis on complex insurance issues
• Conduct legal research and prepare pleadings, motions, briefs, and other litigation documents
• Take and defend party, fact, and expert witness depositions
• Draft, argue, and respond to dispositive motions and other significant motions
• Prepare cases for mediation, arbitration, trial, and appeal
• Develop litigation strategy and evaluate risks and exposures
• Communicate effectively with clients, carriers, opposing counsel, and courts
• Participate in trial preparation, including witness preparation, exhibit management, and courtroom support

Compensation

• Base salary: $130,000 - $160,000
• Annual bonus
• Comprehensive benefits package including 100% medical cost covered by firm for employee
• Flexible Hybrid WFH schedule (2 days WFH per week)
