Shift Information: 0700-1900 Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday

On Call, Call Back Requirements: No call

Weekend Rotation: EOW

Holiday Requirements: Travelers will work 75% of holidays

Floating Requirements: Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, any Freestanding ED within Region, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main Mercy LCH)

About Facility:

• 207 licensed beds
• No Trauma Designation
• Not a Teaching Hospital
• Chest Pain Center
• Stroke Center
• Radius rule: Traveler's permanent address must be 50 miles outside of home unit

Unit Information:

• Beds: 16 ED Beds and 5 boarding beds

Minimum Years of Experience required:

• ED RN: 2 years ED exp (Resource Team)
• Med/Tele RN: 2 years Med/Tele exp (Resource Team)

Will you accept a first-time traveler: Not preferred but will consider (Resource Team)



Patient Types/Common Diagnoses:

• *Travelers will most often be hired as Med/Tele RN to cover ED Holds – will be cross trained to task in the ED (IV starts/labs)*
• ED Diagnoses: Stroke, CHF, Electrolyte imbalance, Arrythmias, Respiratory arrest,
• Sepsis, COPD, Falls, MVCs, etc.

Patient Ratios:

• RN: 1:5 max (acuity dependent)
• CNA: 1:7

Required License, National Certification, Certs (BLS, ACLS, etc.), or other position specific requirements such as Driver's License and/or Insurance:

• ED RN: Required: BLS, ACLS, PALS, NIHSS, CPI; Preferred: TNCC
• Med/Tele RN: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS (Resource Team requirement)

Skills required:

• ED RN: Cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with critical care drips, vent management, PIV starts, TNK/TPA administration, conscious sedation, triage experience, etc.
• Med/Tele RN: General Med/Tele skillset: Stroke experience, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG tubes, Hemovac, JP drains, flexiseals, foley insertion/management, etc), PCA pumps
  • Medication gtt management to include: Cardiac drips, Heparin, blood products, IVF

Support within the Department:

• CNA
• Receptionist/HUC
• Charge nurse – may or may not have patients
• Phlebotomy – peripheral blood draws
• IV/VAT Team: 11a-7p, 11p-7a
• Resource Nurse – as staffing allows
• RT, 24/7
• Hospitalist, 24/7
• Intensivist - ICU provider in house until 11p M-F, till 7p Sat/Sun, VCC coverage and on call Intensivist

Technology/Equipment:

• EMR: EPIC
• IV Pump: Alaris
• Med dispensing: Omnicell
• Monitors: Phillips
• Unit specific equipment: bladder scanner, IV pumps, SCDs, Telemetry monitoring, Bipap

Floating:

• Will be required to float per region needs – will require floating to all facilities listed below, as needed, within scope of practice – DECLINE if not agreeable
• Region 1 - Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, any Freestanding ED within Region, Lake Norman, Central Division (CMC Main Mercy LCH)
• If floating mid-shift, Traveler will be paid for the time traveling between facilities (will remain on the clock)

Orientation (facility and unit):

• NEO
• 2 days departmental

Scheduling:

• Weekend rotation: every other
• No call for travelers
• Holiday Expectations: Travelers will work 75% of holidays
• RTO: Can approve up to 6 days off, excluding holidays – must add time to the end of the contract if unable to meet contracted hours
