Registered Nurse (RN) – Medical Surgical / Orthopedics

Schedule / Job Type

Contract | Night Shift (6:30 PM – 6:30 AM) | Onsite | Every other weekend required | Holiday rotation with permanent staff

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on a Medical Surgical / Orthopedic unit with a nurse-to-patient ratio of 1:5–6
• Care for patients with diagnoses including total knee, hip, ankle, and shoulder replacements, as well as spinal procedures
• Administer and monitor set-rate drips including pain medications, antibiotics, and blood products
• Collaborate with charge nurses, patient care techs, and telemetry technicians to ensure safe, coordinated patient care
• Float as needed to Med Surg, rehab, or PCU units at Med Surg acuity levels
• Participate in self-scheduling with cyclic rotation and adhere to unit policies and orientation requirements

Required Qualifications

• Active RN license in good standing
• Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• Valid driver's license required at time of submittal
• Ability to pass a unit-specific open-book skills exam with a minimum score of 90% during orientation
• Compliance with facility fingernail policy — artificial nails are prohibited in all patient care departments
• Availability to arrive on-call callbacks within 30 minutes if called back in

Preferred Experience / Skills

• Prior experience in Medical Surgical or Orthopedic nursing
• Familiarity with telemetry monitoring equipment and post-surgical patient care
• Experience working in a team-oriented environment with a flexible, ownership-driven approach to patient care
