Resident Care Supervisor

Summary of Responsibility: Ensures that the resident care department is operated efficiently and in compliance with all applicable legislation and regulatory requirements; provides the highest possible standard of care through effective use of the nursing process. Responsible for orientation, education and scheduling of the resident care staff.

MUST HAVE CMT OR L1MA LICENSE!

Duties:

1. Supervises the inventory of medication, dispensing of said medications and the monitoring of Medication Administration Records for all residents.
2. Developing, coordinating and performing the tasks on the plan of care according to the residents preferences and abilities.
3. Responsible updating and maintaining manuals where indicated and keeping sufficient infection control supplies on hand in an easily accessible place.
4. Assist the Director of Wellness in planning, decision-making and budgeting for wellness care services.
5. Has responsibility and accountability for the functions, activities and development of all wellness personnel.
6. Coordinate with the Food Service Director to ensure that all residents receive diets prescribed by the physician.
7. Train, supervise, evaluate, and counsel wellness staff in accordance with established company policies and standards.
8. Responsible for maintaining documentation which reflects wellness care provided, individuals response to care and disposition of each case.
9. Maintain open, effective and ongoing communication with the communitys medical staff and medical community.
10. Ensure a safe and sanitary environment for residents, employees and visitors.
11. Keep the Director of Wellness informed regarding work performance of care staff and any unusual incident or problem regarding residents, employees or community.
12. Maintain the confidentiality of all resident care information.
13. Responsible for completing and maintaining the schedule for care staff, work on community as needed (vacations, call outs etc ).
14. Take on call with Director of Wellness, work community staffing needs.
15. Perform any duties as determined or assigned by the Executive Director/ Director of Wellness.

Education and Experience:

1. A minimum of three years of experience in a health care community and at least one year of successful supervisory experience.
2. Experience in geriatric care, emergency care, first-aid.
3. Must have training in the special needs of the cognitively impaired resident i.e., Alzheimer and Dementia training with focus on Validation Therapy.
4. Must be able to read, write and speak the English language.
5. Must be a certified Medication Aide
